Bon voyag-ee, Cosco Busan! And don't come back! The leaky Cosco Busan ship that contaminated our beautiful bay with oil is expected to get clearance to get the heck outta Frisco, setting sail at noon today to head back to South Korea. We kind of have this vision of the ship disconsolately listing off into the sunset, leaving a trail of oil behind it, like when Wile E. Coyote hits something and walks off screen......

You know, some days you log onto SFGate.com and you think, wow, there's a lot of weird local news today. *A man carjacked, kidnapped, and raped a nun in the Mission, and then went to the cops, saying he wanted to return the car. He says he just "borrowed" the car and he didn't know the woman was a nun. That's not a very good defense, sir. *A mylar balloon shorted out some power lines......

Yay cartoons! In addition to screening Charlotte's Web next Sunday, Frameline has compiled a lovely collection of eleven gayish animated shorts. Some are fun, some are preachy, some are incomprehensibly artsy, but all are under fifteen minutes. Whoo hoo! The strongest of the bunch: Powerplay, a hilarious Dutch cartoon about a massive dom and the puny sub who loves him. The Warner-Brothers-ish superstretchy style sets a great wacky tone for the silly, horrifying acts......
