Earlier this year, Jerry Brown was threatening to impose a $150 fee on all rural residents of the state in order to offset the costs of Cal Fire programs, which costs the state upwards of $23 million each year. People are complaining, however, especially the rich folk up in Marin, because they have to pay the fee even though Cal Fire doesn't do any work in their county, and they already pay local taxes for fire protection.

Yosemite Wildfire Rages after Motor Home Fire Forces Evacuations
Approximately 70 homes and two campgrounds outside Yosemite National Park were evacuated this weekend following a motor home blaze that began Thursday. The "Motor Fire", as they're calling it, has torched 4,700 acres and closed a 15 mile stretch along Highway 40. Entrances into the National Park have been closed, and nearby Trumbull Peak is being threatened. Currently 35% contained, firefighting aircrafts are now being deployed.
