While traveling back East, Gavin made a pit-stop in Washington D.C. to powwow with DiFi and the Navy and told everyone afterwards that he thinks there's a very good chance the Navy will hand over the ownership of the Hunters Point Shipyard in time to start building the new Niners stadium. It helps that not all of the land is needed, just twenty-seven acres worth. The fast turnaround is needed because San Francisco is trying to show they can get a stadium up and running and show that anything Santa Clara can do, San Francisco can do better. ...

You know that woman who was a Madame in the DC area who threatened to release all the names and info on her client list? Well, she just went out and released all the names and info on her client list. In an e-mail to a Washington D.C. radio station, the Madame, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, said she gave everything to "what I believe to be one of the most reputable and respected investigative news organizations in the country, to assist me with my needs." We somehow don't think she meant NPR. ...

So a Vallejo woman is charged with racketeering for running a brothel. No big deal, right? Well, she apparently was a Madame (a word we guess is the female equivalent of pimp but one that sounds rather nicer than the other. Is there street lingo for a female pimp, like Pimpess?) in Washington D.C. And apparently she's out of money and much of anything that could still be taken. So what does she want to do to raise more money? Sell off all of her phone records involving all of her clients. And if you think "hookers" and "Washington D.C." and not think that doesn't include some high profile clients, you would be correct. ...

As previously reported on SFist, today is the day the official, real Question Time is supposed to happen. Sometime today, the Board of Supes will read off all the names of people who should be in attendance and add one name to the list, that being Gavin's. Gavin won't be there, of course, because he will be at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, hobnobbing with the stars, both poltical and movie. His attendance at the confab, however, isn't going over very well with some people. ...

So it had to happen and it did-- somebody sued the federal government about all those extra security measures going down in the airports. The dude who did it, John Gilmore, did so under the guise that the policy violated his right to be free of unreasonable searches. He lost most of the cases and the Supreme Court, perhaps due to Judge Rehnquist undergoing some sort of bad acid flashback, rejected the case. ...

In 2000 when the Examiner and Chron merged and the Examiner was sold off, everyone was sure that the Examiner was not long for this newspaper world, especially after its disastrous beginning. Now, almost five years later, the Examiner is way past not dead yet. In fact, the Examiner has sired a spawn. In February, Washington D.C. will have their very own version of the Ex, as the brand-spanking-new Washington Examiner will debut. ...

We must have missed this in the midst of all the Apprentice hoopla, but last week the San Francisco Board of Supervisors did what they do best- passed a sweeping, half-baked but well-intentioned measure to put on the ballot. The legislation this time? Handgun ban. And we’re not just talking about the sale of handguns, but the owning of handguns. In something right of the fevered dreams of the NRA, the legislation calls for......
