The suspect, Pierre Ragland, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault, carrying a loaded firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. Oops. And the victim was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, and it looks like he's pull through. (And to add insult to injury: "Oh my God, who shot you?" "This guy named Pierre." Ouch.)

It's been five years since SF Camerawork, a non-profit dedicated to photography and digital media, had its own gallery. Since 2001, Camerawork has shared exhibition space with New Langton Arts, but no longer. SF Camerawork has moved back to its old hood, and is celebrating its new location at 657 Mission St. (at 3rd) with a Grand Opening party from 5-9pm. Check out the inaugural exhibition at the new gallery, Ghosts in the Machine, which considers "the notion of haunting as a set of cultural conditions that arise when estranged moments in national histories and collective memory are not given their due."
Our man at the SF Weekly, Nate Cavalieri, put together a less somber but no less sincere benefit event at 12 Galaxies in the Mission. The Benefit Show for the International Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts in South Asia will be on Wednesday at 7:30 and will include performers Mark Eitzel, Jolie Holland, Sonny Smith, Jeffrey Luck Lucas, Loquat, The Herms, Dave Gleason, Mike Therieau and Pat Johnson, The Bellyachers, Tom Heyman and Bart Davenport. It will be ten dollars at the door, although you can give more, and 100% of the door and much of the drink proceeds will go directly to charities helping with the relief effort. There will also be a benefit raffle with prizes, including Amoeba gift certificates and vintage Red Cross gear.
