We just heart reading Two Cents to find out what people on the streets of the Bay Area think about a wide range of local, national, and international topics.

Matier and Ross have both our obsessions covered in tomorrow's column! (The column's dated for tomorrow's paper, but went live this evening which is why this is going up now.)
--Gavin Newsom angrily denies Chris Daly's cocaine allegations, calls them "sleazy," and calls for everyone in the Board of Supes to condemn them. Tom Ammiano says he thought it was one of Daly's better speeches. [The Chron (and audio clip), CBS 5 (with video of Daly at the meeting and Newsom's denial), ABC 7 (also with video), Fog City, Beyond Chron, Examiner, SF Sentinel. Watch the video from SFGov here, around item 36.]
We really dread to be doing this, again, but here it is, your recap of the reaction to Gavin's admission that he's seeking counseling for booze. Or, as the NY Post puts it, "S.F. Sex Mayor In Booze RX." You know, we used to joke with our fellow -ists about how exciting our Mayor is compared to their boring, dreary Mayors (Gothamist's biggest scandal concerning Bloomberg was that he has bad fashion sense) but we're kind of over it.
Hooray to us! We have now officially flogged the Gavin Newsom & Sofia Milos thing to death. But hey, we got in the paper of record -- thanks, Swells! We'd like to thank everyone who made this possible, including SFist Jon, who came up with the naming contest idea in the first place.
And the winner of the First Annual Name That Newsom Couple is...... CSI Plumpjack!!!! Congratulations, commenter Dave! We'll be getting in touch with you to get your address to send you some fine, fine SFist swag.
Looks like we should have had one extra entry, though -- the hot, hot name of "Milos + Guest." Leah Garchik reports that Getty Images has a picture of CSI: Plumpjack up on its site, with the caption "Actress Sofia Milos + guest arrive at Elton John's Academy Awards party." Is Getty Images affiliated with the same Gettys that funded Newsom's campaign? Are those checks made out to "plus Guest" as well?
And finally, yesterday's Two Cents featured the question: "Would you rather read about Newsom's love life or potholes?" Is the Chron so hard-pressed for newsprint that there isn't room in the paper for both?

We are obsessively following the story about the father and stepmother who left the father's two sons alone in their San Ramon house with a bunch of frozen dinners so they could go to Vegas for a weeklong vacation!! The parents were willing to fork out the money for a dogsitter but not anyone for the kids! The younger boy was autistic and was heard shrieking for help from the garage over the weekend! The cops had to gain entry into the house through a second-story sliding door because the boys were told not to open the door for the week! The parents had done this at least once before! The maternal grandparent called the cops and now wants custody! The stepmother's defense is that she loves kids because she gives them free toothbrushes at her dental practice!!! Whew! What does the Chron's Two Cents think about the whole thing?
The police in Santa Cruz get a call during last week's wild weather -- a dead body floating by the wharf, face down. Grim. They race out, with lifeguards, rescue boats, and a Coast Guard helicopter. It was a log.
And the police are still investigating an anti-Semitic hate crime that happened back in October in front of a Marina pizza parlor. Two roommates, who had recently graduated from Stanford, were attacked outside Pizza Pino by a group of males shouting anti-Jewish slurs. One attacker has been caught but they're looking for two others. The Jewish ADL is offering a $5000 reward for information.
The Chron today does a feature on the biggest architectural eyesores in San Francisco.
