In Dolores Park on Friday, the annual Trans March kicked off Gay Pride weekend. And, according to reports, "people were openly popping hormone therapies right out there in the street." Good gravy. Anyway, loads of other trannies, FTMs, MTFs, friends, gawkers, lovers and family members showed up to Pride weekend's most underrated yet entertaining event. (Alas, there was no sign of Chaz Bono.)

Judge Orders Library of Congress to Pay Transsexual $500,000

A federal judge ordered the Library of Congress to pay $500,000 to former Army Special Forces Commander Diane Schroer (née David Schroer) on Tuesday. Why? Well, after landing a terrorism analyst gig while she was still a man, the job was rescinded after Schroer told a library official that she was having sexual reassignment surgery to switch gender. This, to which many SFist readers can attest, is a problem transgendered folk face on a regular basis. "If [transgendered people] are fortunate enough to get something, it's well below their capabilities. It's not just about money, it's about knowing you are a valuable person," Schroer said after the settlement. After ruling in her favor in September, U.S. District Judge James Robertson wrote, "She experienced the emotional pain and suffering of losing her dream job merely because she was a transsexual," going on to point out, "She was well qualified for the job."

Sparked by the unsolved 1998 murder of Rita Hester, the Transgender Day of Remembrance has grown from a little candlelight vigil on the streets of San Francisco to a worldwide memorial in major cities across the world. This Thursday marks the 10-year anniversary of the Transgender Day of Remembrance. So, celebrate local transgenders of note (such as Veronica Klaus, Bambi Lake, and a host of others) as well as other self-identified transsexuals, crossdressers, trannies, drag queens, or otherwise gender-variants. (At the LGBT synagogue Congregation Shaar Zahev, there will be a Transgender Remembrance Shabbat at 7:30pm in Friday, November 21.)

There will be a colorful and joyous skirmish over at the Human Rights Campaign dinner happening in San Francisco tomorrow n ight. Why? Well, it seems the largest (and allegedly inclusive) "lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) lobbying group and political action committee" has waffled time and time again with transgenders and the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) - "which should include protections for gender identity as well as sexual orientation" - so local groups plan on responding this outside their very exclusive annual gala.

Thomas Beatie, the with-child transgender male who stole the nation's heart on Oprah with his good looks and big baby beer gut, gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday. We repeat, the pregnant dude gave birth! That is all.

Outside Citizen Space on Second Street. Heh. (For another view of the Will Ferrell cum toddler tranny hilarity, check out Curbed's shot.)
