Coming June 19, the newest Disney/Pixar flick from writer-director Peter Docter (previously of Up, which, yes, was adorable) takes place in San Francisco. Of course, being CGI, Inside Out wasn't exactly shot on location, but it features some SF-located scenes and was made nearby at Pixar's Emeryville HQ.

Really, the movie mostly takes place inside the mind — as the inner voices of a young girl are literally voiced by Amy Poehler (Joy), Mindy Kaling (Disgust), Lewis Black (Anger), Bill Hader (Fear) and Phyllis Smith (Sadness). Talk about type casting, but it's an interesting concept that involved extensive research on emotional intelligence.

In addition to just looking like a fun movie, the trailer has buried in it two particular digs at San Francisco. They are, without spoiling the fun by quoting them, to do with our local pizza and, er, wildlife. In particular, the pizza stereotyping is pernicious and needs to stop, because come on, the pizza here is good now!

Marvel's latest mega-million-dollar toy commercial has finally arrived, and it's Ant-Man! Swarming and invading its way into multiplexes this July, Ant-Man stars Hollywood tough guy Paul Rudd as the titular superhero (alias: Scott Lang), with Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, a guru-like figure who passes on The Way of the Ant to the Ruddmeister. And yes, this is the full-sized trailer, not the "ant-sized" teaser teaser that annoyed pretty much everyone.

Plot details are hazy at this point, but Scott Lang is a petty criminal who must wear the Ant-Man suit in order to Do What's Right and get his shot at redemption. Hank Pym once wore the suit according to Marvel mythos and acts as Lang's mentor, but it seems as if Douglas' portrayal is a watering-down of the comic book character.

The latest in blockbusters to use scenic San Francisco as a backdrop, Ant-Man is directed by Peyton Reed, whose previous credits include Bring It On, The Break-Up, and the underrated Down With Love. Ant-Man is the second in his Man trilogy, being the follow up to 2008's Yes Man (just kidding). It wasn't always Reed's project, however, as the film was originally an Edgar Wright joint. Wright, best known for Shaun Of The Dead and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, has cred with both comic and film geeks alike, so his departure was seen as a huge loss for the film. Whatever, not like this movie won't rake it in at the box office anyway.

Yes it looks like more the same-old-stuff from Marvel, so your mileage may vary. At least Paul Rudd asks what we're all thinking at the end of the trailer: "Is it too late to change the name?"

Fruitvale Station released the first trailer today. The indie movie, which picked up the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance this year, is based on the moments leading up to the murder of Oscar Grant, who was shot and killed by BART officer Johannes Mehserle on New Year's Day 2009.

And how every gay of-a-certain age almost lost their right mind after hearing that news? Well, the film looks like it will be more than tolerable, at least judging by the trailer it will be. It introduces us to Will Smith by showing him in tattered clothes, seemingly drunk, sleeping on a park bench. Then he sexually assaults a white woman. And then there's a montage of him attempting to use his superpowers to foil crimes; except he keeps screwing things up because he's lazy, brutish, horny, and incapable of abstract reasoning; and even though he's been given allllllll those superpowers, even the most amazing black man in the world is just a plain old nuisance. What the hell is this movie about?

Now, we're no experts on racial semiotics. The staff of SFist is pretty fair-skinned. Are we the only ones bothered by this, or is it offensive to Negroes, too?
