As expected, the fury-inducing plan to charge up to $6 to vehicularly commute into certain parts of San Francisco was nixed yesterday. "The San Francisco Board of Supervisors, acting as the city's transportation authority, have voted 9-2 to scrap a controversial proposal to charge a toll to motorists entering San Francisco from the south during peak commute hours."

Peninsula Folks Loathe S.F. Commuter Toll Plan
The San Francisco Transportation Authority's plan to charge commuters a toll of up to $6 to drive into/out of the S.F. during certain hours has (rightfully) come under fire. San Mateo authorities, who urged S.F. transportation leaders today to nix the plan, claim "that it would unfairly hurt their residents who commute to the city for work and also would push traffic onto local streets." The tolls, however, "could raise up to $80 million a year for roads and public transportation." [KTVU]
$6 Toll Approved For Bay Bridge
Starting July 1, a $6 toll will get you across the bridge during rush hour, with no discount for FaskTrak. This comes out to $500 more a year for commuters. This recent toll hike comes after a drop in revenue because, awesomely, people are choosing public transportation over driving.
Bay Bridge Toll Hike Impending
Higher toll fees and the death of free carpooling is one step closer to being a reality, folks. Alas.
MSM Stays Silent as SF Murder Toll Tops 100
While it made headlines last year, this year's passing of San Francisco's 100th murder, happened in early November, made little buzz in the mainstream media. As of last night's brazen North Beach murder -- where Richard Barrett, 29, was shot in the back and killed while trying to enter Fuse -- has the city of San Francisco at 103. So, since we're well ahead of the curve from 2007, why hasn't the mainstream media make mention of this?
