Some of the charges included direct payments made to accounts associated with Novbakhtian, as well as international airline tickets under her name, luxury hotels, cosmetic and spa services, retail purchases, and ride services.

The police department says detectives are investigating whether Novbakhtian is connected to additional crimes, including a residential burglary that was previously reported.

The Marin County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case for felony grand theft and fraud charges. That report goes into more detail that the first coyote was observed on Angel Island in 2017, and that there are now an estimated 14 to 17 coyotes on the island, where there had never been any observed prior to eight years ago.

The Instagram video above has some commenters giving guff that the park personnel didn’t do more to help the coyote, but park staff dismiss that. “Coyotes are good swimmers,” park interpreter Casey Dexter-Lee told SFGate. “We try very hard not to interfere with natural behaviors of wildlife whenever possible, as long as it’s not in conflict with the visitors. We let the animals do their thing.”

KQED has better video of the coyote swimming, and spoke to California State Parks environmental scientist Bill Miller, who took the video. Ironically, Miller was boating out to Angel Island specifically to work on a coyote research project. “I’m going out there to look for coyotes on camera, and then here just to see one, swimming, it was pretty fun,” he told KQED.

The coyote in the video did not swim the whole way to Tiburon, and instead turned around about one-quarter of the way and headed back to Angel Island. Park staffers aren’t sure why.

But they do know that the first recorded coyote got there in 2017, and would howl at the coyotes over in Tiburon. Another eventually swam over, they had a litter of pups, and the population has now grown to an estimated 14 to 17 coyotes.

There are plausible theories on why the coyotes would make that swim to Angel Island, and even stay there permanently once they had. The island had a large population (some would say overpopulation) of raccoons and deer, for which coyotes are predators. Those populations have decreased since the coyotes’ arrival.

But that’s just one theory. "Maybe coyotes want to go somewhere else," California Department of Fish and Wildlife ecologist Bill Furnas told KGO. "Young coyotes want to set up new territories and they are dispersing."

Related: Video: Li’l Coyote Pup Rescued After Falling Into Bay at Fisherman’s Wharf [SFist]

Image: This coyote passed by these ducks without scaring them, absolutely beautiful to see. The collision between a sailboat and a 25-foot center console pleasure craft motor boat was first reported to the U.S. Coast Guard at 2:09 p.m. Thursday; the initial impact from the collision caused the motorboat to spin out of control when Wells, who was operating the vessel, was thrown into the water; the boat only stopped spinning after authorities could commandeer the vessel and turn off the engine.

Others involved in the boating accident managed to pull Wells from the water, but he, however, later succumbed to his injuries.

It's not clear at this time what led up to the collision, and an investigation is still underway by local police. "To kill two innocent animals like this and make them suffer is really egregious and we’re pretty concerned." The Humane Society initially responded to the call about the deer shooting on on Mar East Drive, which faces San Francisco Bay.

According to police the weapon was a high-powered Gamo pellet-gun with scope, laser and flashlight attachments. As the Marin IJ notes, the gun is marketed for pest control, and for hunting small game such as raccoons, rabbits, and the like.

Dickinson's attorney issued a statement picked up by CBS 5 saying, "My client did not intend to harm the animals. The public outrage to these allegations is driven by the inflammatory claims of the Tiburon Police Department which haven’t been proven in court."

Neighbors tell ABC 7 that they had seen the doe and her offspring in the neighborhood for weeks, and they were shocked at the news. Linda and Klaus Meinberg had taken cellphone photos of the animals that they shared with ABC 7 and can be seen in the coverage below.

Food critics, love them or loathe them, generally avoid doling out negative reviews. When you have nothing nice to say, as the say, don't go back to the restaurant.

And yet, from time to time — bless them for it — a critic does go all in on a good pan. Such was the case, you may recall, when Pete Wells skewered Guy Fieri's horrorshow Times Square restaurant back in 2012, or more recently this January, raked Thomas Keller's Per Se over the coals in a lacerating two-star review.

In that vein, consider this scathing review of Tiburon's 1986-founded Mexican restaurant Guaymas from the Chronicle's chief food eater Michael Bauer. While billed as "authentic," Bauer found the place to taste "like the American version of the 1960s." And though it sounds as if Bauer had the opposite of this experience at Guaymas, he does give us something delicious to chew on. The burns might be a bit spicy, and they are very salty, but lo, they are good.

"Complimentary tortilla chips are the best part of the meal, but still pale in comparison to what you’ll find at other places."

"I’ve had better chicken enchiladas ($16.95) from the frozen-food case of Trader Joe’s."

"From start to finish we suffered through what tasted like a collection of cheap ingredients, poorly prepared."

"I was flabbergasted when I saw an article from 2014 where Thrillist named Guaymas one of the 21 best Mexican restaurants in America. Were we in the same restaurant? From what I had, it was one of the worst in the Bay Area." (Thrillist here)

"The one thing Guaymas has going for it is the ambience — an impressive outdoor deck overlooking the marina and San Francisco. Yet passable chips and a great view aren’t enough to keep me coming back."

Bauer also criticized service at Guaymas, noting that a waiter didn't bother bringing his bill. With one star, the critic appears to have flipped the script, serving them instead.

The fight we first heard about last month between Robin Williams' wife Susan Schneider (who appears to have recently adopted the last name Williams which she had not used previously) and his three children will be going before a judge today. As KRON 4 reports, children Zachary, Zelda, and Cody reportedly took some items out of Williams' Tiburon home that their stepmother wanted for herself, and she's now seeking "guidance" from a probate judge over what her late husband intended in the wording of a trust.

At issue in this petty battle, as we learned in February, are things like figurines, graphic novels, Williams' Oscar for Good Will Hunting, and other entertainment industry memorabilia that is in storage, as well as in the Tiburon home. The trust gave the home to Schneider/Williams, but gave various "jewelry" and "memorabilia" to the children, who now argue that they have a right to take any and all of it regardless of where it was kept. Their stepmother, however, is trying to exclude some expensive watches from the definition of "jewelry," and is trying to suggest that the kids should only get the memorabilia that was kept in a second home in Napa.

There appears to be no love lost between the three kids and Schneider/Williams, and they said in an earlier statement that she was "adding insult to a terrible injury" by taking them to court over this, and that they "are heartbroken that Petitioner, Mr. Williams’ wife of less than three years, has acted against his wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate."

Perhaps this will be resolved today, but perhaps not.

Robin Williams, the Oscar-winning actor and stand-up comedian who's lived for many years in the San Francisco Bay Area, was found dead in his Tiburon, California home on Monday, as the Marin Sheriff's Department is reporting.

The Sheriff's Department issued a release Monday, August 11, saying that they are currently investigating Williams' death, but that the county coroner "suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia." Williams was reportedly last seen by his wife around 10 p.m. on Sunday, and could not be found in the home this morning. He was then found and reported unconscious and not breathing at 11:55 a.m.

The Marin Independent Journal notes that Williams, a recovering alcoholic and cocaine addict, had recently gone back for treatment in a rehab facility. As of July 1, he was checked into the Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center near Lindstrom, Minnesota, and it was at a nearby Dairy Queen that an employee posted the photo below to Facebook. It may be one of the last known photos of the actor. It's not clear how long Williams had been back home in Tiburon.

Williams' death comes six months after the drug-related passing of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who had also fallen off the wagon in his struggle with heroin addiction. People on social media have been quick to post the video clip below, from 1998's Patch Adams, of a scene with Hoffman and Williams.

Many obituaries likely to follow. Also below, a routine Williams did in 2008 about the end of George W. Bush's "reign of error."

Williams, it was announced in April, was set to star in Mrs. Doubtfire 2, due out in 2015. He also recently reprised his role as Teddy Roosevelt in the Night at the Museum franchise, with the third installment due out this Christmas.

Update: The entire New York Times obit is up, which includes Williams' publicist Mara Buxbaum confirming that the actor had been "battling severe depression."
Read how Bay Area locals, including Ben Fong-Torres and Mayor Ed Lee, have responded to the news. The national response includes this touching statement from President Barack Obama, in which he calls Williams "one of a kind."

Williams' wife Susan Schneider issued a statement as well, saying: "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions." The film sounds like part documentary, part self-help, having to do with using Mayan prophecies to improve your quality of life. And while Thieriot does not seem to think the world will end this December (she's hoping, instead, that her film will come out by then), she did invite a "Mayan spiritual leader" for a Marin-style cocktail fete at her home.

Apolinario Chile Pixtun is the Head Elder of the Mayan Council and an alleged spiritual guide. Because he "carries the wisdom of his Mayan ancestors and passes it on to generations," he has apparently parlayed that into a lucrative career of traveling the world to speak about the Mayan calendar, and attend cocktail parties.

Thieriot's home in Tiburon is called Lions Gate, kind of like the former film studio, so perhaps she has long fancied herself a movie producer. In any event, Pixtun sounds like a con artist, and we wish poor Thieriot would just give to charity or something like a normal rich person.

Sailing season on the Bay opened Sunday, which means every jib-tugger with a berth was out on the water taking their private boats for a spin. While the weather was lovely, things apparently turned ugly in the late afternoon boat-hopping party that traditionally springs up outside Sam's Anchor Cafe in Tiburon. Luckily, these two ladies were there to film all the shirtless dudes in board shorts going at it. They even thought it appropriate to provide some delightfully nonplussed color commentary. Observe:

According to Tiburon police spokesman Sgt. Rob Law (sidenote: awesome name, Sarge!), opening day is typically Tiburon PD's busiest of the year and at least six pieces of floating human jetsam were involved in the ship-to-ship warfare. There were several arrests and one dude suffered a minor nose injury, but apparently no one felt much like pressing charges after the seas settled.

Meanwhile, we like to think our nearby commentators immediately went back to their glasses Sam's Private Label Chardonnay without missing a beat.
