Remember that four-alarm house fire in Tiburon we mentioned yesterday? Well, sadly, that burning house belonged to Marin County icon, author, peace activist and collector of all things purple, Barbara Meislin, who had lived in the house for 43 years. A seemingly massive four-alarm house fire is roaring in Tiburon right now. If you work near the Golden Gate Bridge (or, of course, on the other side of it), you might be able to see smoke stemming from the hill. According to NBC Bay Area, "[t]he fire went from two to three to four alarms in a matters of minutes" and it's burning at 116 Lyford Drive. more ›

The woman who was found shot shot to death in Tiburon yesterday morning, making it the city's first homicide in a decade, has been identified as 75-year-old Joan Rosenthal. According to police, there was no sign of a break in and nothing from Rosenthal's residence was stolen. Rosenthal, described as a "a wonderful member of the community," held a "a contemporary fiction book group with Tiburon Mayor Alice Fredericks since 1997."
