Sailing season on the Bay opened Sunday, which means every jib-tugger with a berth was out on the water taking their private boats for a spin. While the weather was lovely, things apparently turned ugly in the late afternoon boat-hopping party that traditionally springs up outside Sam's Anchor Cafe in Tiburon. Purple Lady of Tiburon Loses Purple-Filled House to Fire

Remember that four-alarm house fire in Tiburon we mentioned yesterday? Well, sadly, that burning house belonged to Marin County icon, author, peace activist and collector of all things purple, Barbara Meislin, who had lived in the house for 43 years. Everything she owned and wore, from the flowers in her garden to her undergarments to her cell phone, was purple. (She was profiled in Marin Magazine in 2007 -- read it here.) Four-Alarm House Fire Burning In Tiburon

A seemingly massive four-alarm house fire is roaring in Tiburon right now. If you work near the Golden Gate Bridge (or, of course, on the other side of it), you might be able to see smoke stemming from the hill. According to NBC Bay Area, "[t]he fire went from two to three to four alarms in a matters of minutes" and it's burning at 116 Lyford Drive. more ›

Tiburon Murder Victim Identified

The woman who was found shot shot to death in Tiburon yesterday morning, making it the city's first homicide in a decade, has been identified as 75-year-old Joan Rosenthal. According to police, there was no sign of a break in and nothing from Rosenthal's residence was stolen. Rosenthal, described as a "a wonderful member of the community," held a "a contemporary fiction book group with Tiburon Mayor Alice Fredericks since 1997."
