UPDATE: Looks like the volunteer hotlines are overwhelmed. Don't panic; at this early stage, there simply isn't much that the untrained public can do. Some new info appears after the jump, but to summarize: DON'T APPROACH OILED ANIMALS. They'll hurt you, and the oil will hurt you, and everyone will be sad. Just report them instead, and take photos so the damage can be assessed later. To volunteer: call the Oiled Wildlife Care Network......

It seems that NBC 11 caught Bill O'Reilley's film crew taking in the (non)X-rated partying that went on at last Saturday's Erotic Exotic Ball. This week he'll devoted an entire segment to the annual "sexy" Halloween fete, and even have the ball’s founder, Perry Mann, on as a guest. ...

Go ahead Bay Area, whoop it the hell up. Call in sick to work, pick up a twelver at the corner store, order some team gear online, call your boys over, and replay game 6 again and again and again on your DVR. It's time to cel-eh-brate, come on! Last night in the O-rena, before 20,677 fanatics-in-arms, your Golden State Warriors rose up and crushed the Dallas Mavericks, 111-86, to close out their first-round, best-of-seven series, four games to two.

The first time we saw Imogen Heap was at the rodeo on Austin, Texas, about eight years ago when she was touring on her first album I Megaphone (we'd fished the record out the promo box at the used CD store where we worked and fell instantly in love). Performing a short set for a radio event, she sat alone at her piano and sang "Come Here Boy" with a voice that filled up the......

The most exciting thing on TV last night was the season finale of "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart." Which is to say, there was nothing exciting on TV last night. Tonight's a little better. First off, we're only a day away from Festivus. To help prepare you for those Feats of Strength and the Airing of Grievances, TBS will be running the "The Strike," the "Seinfeld" episode that started it all, tonight at 9 p.m.......

Now appearing 50% more often! San Francisco is not particularly happy with Sony right now. Law Geek Jason Schultz explains the rootkit fiasco to Irina Slutsky and Eddie Codel of GETV, and while talented graffitti writers continue to be harrassed by the SFPD, Sony has no trouble spraypainting our town with 'viral' ads for the PSP. In other video game action, Electronic Arts is getting sued for stealing an idea for an independent game......

In Monday's TV post, we did not mention that the season premiere of "Alias" is this week. Tonight in fact. And we didn't mention it because we almost forgot about it. And we almost forgot about it because the show has been moved from its comfy post-"Lost" slot to a new night, a night crowded with tons of other shows. And you know what? We're kind of pissed about that. We've had a hard......

Tomorrow is St. Patrick's day and Spring Break is upon us. What better time to discuss local Latino TV programming? What? Did we hear someone say "Boo! Bad segue!"? Fine. How's this? On Sunday on CBS at 9 p.m. you can catch the awesomely titled made-for-TV movie Spring Break Shark Attack. We haven't heard a better title since last week's Mansquito! Can it possibly top that instant classic in gross-out gore? Being that it's......

Sure, there are new releases this week by Britney, Eminem and Shania, but what love have they ever shown to San Francisco? "Talkin' in the Mission / Over coffee, this is my utopia," sings Vanessa Carlton on "Harmonium," her second full length album. That might sound like a normal morning to us, but we'll allow the young songstress her love affair with our fair city. Partly recorded here and produced by resident rocker Stephan Jenkins,......
