The Girl Scouts were out in full force today hawking their partially hydrogenated oily sweetness. Little bitches in green were relentless around city sidewalks this afternoon, and for that we love them. Who knew it was cookie season? We didn't. And at the end of the day we ended up with four boxes of Samoas. Jealous? Also, Thin Mints: disgusting and gross, or just plain gross? Discuss.......

Each Tuesday we will feature new music that should (or whatever) be on your radar. Standouts: 1. Sia - "some people have real problems": Back in October, we had the chance to see Sia live at the Fillmore. Her press agent emailed us and told us that she was trying out new songs from her upcoming album "some people have real problems." At first, we were kinda bummed; we wanted to hear the music we......

SFist Mihi leaps through the SFIAAFF for some warm-hearted, life-changing anime! This is why we go to film festivals. Once in a while you get to see a movie that you probably would have missed if it weren't for film festivals, but has made your life just a little bit better. A movie that transforms you. A movie that makes your heart swell and your soul sing. A movie that makes you weep silent streams......

Look at you guys go on that Jennifer Siebel thread! 402 comments as we finalize this post, and still going strong. Can you guys see if you can get the count up to 414? We'd then have the highest comment count Gothamist-network wide. We're coming for you, most-popular "First Thoughts on The Matrix Reloaded" post! In all seriousness, thank you guys for keeping the conversation in the comments relatively civil (snarky, but civil -- our......

Like us, you may have been inundated over the holiday weekend with stories of relatives' vacations and medical maladies or the accomplishments of the person sitting next to you on the plane's prodigious offspring. Tonight, we are looking forward to more interesting narratives: At Femina Potens, (465 South Van Ness @ 16th St) Sarah-Katherine Lewis reads from Indecent: How I Fake It and Make It as a Girl for Hire, a sex-worker memoir. Lewis......

What's worse than watching an episode of "How to Get the Guy"? Watching the same episode TWICE! But we did just that with the premiere episode of this reality dating show set in San Francisco, so we could bring you this recap. The second episode airs tonight at 10 p.m. on ABC. Ahhh. Beautiful San Francisco! Apparently our "little city by the bay" is full of single woman who "just can't seem to find......

Our concert picks for the week of 5/5-5/11. We can't help but sing Liz Phair's "Cinco De Mayo" in our head every May 5th. The lyrics make no sense, but dang is it a catchy tune. Some of us get Ween stuck in our head today, and how many of us wished someone a Happy Valen-talen-tine's Day on February 14th? Musicians take note: writing a song about a holiday guarantees the kind of longevity of......

Special New Year's Eve edition. Judging by the horrendous traffic anywhere in the vicinity of the city's bridge and highway entrances, it's time for people to start hightailing it out of town. You're on your own if you want to find the coolest events in Poughkeepsie, Kalamazoo, Wichita Falls, whatever your holiday destination may be. For those of you who will be back in town to ring in 2005, we have suggestions for you. First......
