• Laughing Squid’s Last Minute Unholiday Party: Scott Beale and the gang will be having a most splendid post- and un-holiday party/experiment with social media. Although LS will be "providing some beer and buying pizza, but please feel free to bring some more beer, wine, leftover holiday food, etc." The mood is low-key and geek-filled, and we mean that in the best possible way. Starts at 7 p.m. at Citizen Space.
• Ben-Hur (1959): Not only did this William Wyler-directed epic saga about a Jewish prince sold into slavery (and something or other about bare chests and chariot racing) win a record-breaking 11 Oscars, but finely-aged ham Charlton Heston also picked up the best actor award for it, too. See, miracles really do happen. Screens tonight at 7 p.m. at The Castro Theatre; $6-9
• Barracuda: (Now, wouldntcha?) DJs Damon, Heiko, and Phillie Ocean turn what could be an ordinary '80s night into something extraordinary. Chic, rather than humorous or ironic, '80s attire is highly encouraged. The beats go from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 111 Minna Gallery; $5-10.

-- Doug Benson: How he didn't win the last season of Last Comic Standing is above and beyond all logic. Then again, competitive reality TV makes little sense at times. (See: Banks, Tyra) Benson managed to make it on LCS not once, but twice. And with good reason: he's downright hilarious. Nikki Glaser and Mo Mandel open for the Benson. Show starts at 8 p.m. (and continues until Saturday) at the Punch Line; $15.

-- Cinema Soundscapes: This evening of "voice, music and cinematic exploration" features mezzo-soprano vocalist Silvie Jensen and woodwind musician Bodhan Hilas headlining a night of sound oddities and Stephen Parr film such as "A Dream of Wild Horses," (1971) and "“Symphonies in Stone" (1942). Starts at 8:30 p.m. at Oddball Films; $10 (RSVP)

Tonight, our friends at Hyphen Magazine are having a party at 111 Minna (111 Minna at 2nd), celebrating their newest issue (#10--The Music Issue) with some of their favorite local Asian American musicians: native guns, marque, mud and lovelikefire, and DJs, kero one, politik and modest mark. (9p - 2a)

SFist was met with quite the scene as we approached The Castro Theatre last night for our first SF IndieFest screening, . The IndieFest dress code was apparently being enforced last night, with special dispensations made for Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford certified attire. We wish we had pictures, but you'll just have to trust us when we say that the beautiful people were shining bright.
