We've talked about the controversial documentary The Bridge here on SFist before, but for those who couldn't bring themselves to see the film in a theater, you've got your chance for a cozy TV viewing on IFC tonight at 7:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. At least at home you can cover your eyes and scream "OH MY GOD!" without bothering a theater full of people.

will remind us. That's right, it's the year 2000, and the cool new sport is kill as many pedestrians and other drivers as possible (insert Muni joke here). Caine and Rocky star alongside Mary Woronov in this Queen B of thrillers.

. Ha!

just seemed like another thing that made us feel good about this city. Nothing could shake the optimistic kick in our step we thought, not even a movie about suicide. Boy were we wrong.

Saturday: It's POMO 2006, which means all sorts of Filipino stage performances at YBCA. Our POMO pick is "Bronze Lit: FilipinoAmerican Voices in Literature", at 2 p.m. today, in which writers including Jaime Jacinto, Jason Bayani, Jason Perez, Jean Vengua, Leny Strobel, Marianne Villanueva and Barbara Jane Reyes read from their works. And it's free!

We want first to congratulate the 15,000 runners who took part in the SF marathon this past Sunday: you are amazing. Congratulations to all of you. But who is the dunderhead who decided to have the race start at 5:20 in the morning? You read it right, that is 5 bleeping 20 am! Outside temperature in the low 30s, and fog so thick that, if it wasn’t dark already, you would not see your toes anyway. For the slower runners, there was even an earlier start, at 5am, that the organizers called simply the early start. As opposed to what, exactly? Oh, lucky me, I’m running the late start, I can sleep in till 4am.

As we mentioned, SFist will be Docing around the clock at the fourth San Francisco Documentary Film Festival. There are so many fascinating films playing that you really owe it to yourself to catch a couple this week or next.

Even if this weren't Halloween weekend, we'd be a litle bit psyched about seeing Saw, a violent and gory thriller starring The Dread Pirate Roberts and Detective Murtaugh. Meta comedy aside, this movie about genius serial killers and hand saws looks seriously creepy. Then again, the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (interestingly enough, the original is also referred to as "Saw" by ardent fans) also had a kick-a** trailer, and we all know how crummy that one was. We're willing to take our chances and make it our big budget pick of the week. You can catch it at any of our fine Bay Area metroplexes.
