Yes, believe it -- a hot identical twin Men's Doubles tennis team! Dare to have the crazy identical twin fantasy with Bob and Mike Bryan, two 30-year-old Stanford grads who are ranked as the #2 Men's Doubles team in the world. The Bryan twins won the bronze medal in Men's Doubles competition, which actually ended several days ago. That means these two are holed up in a luxury suite in Beijing Olympic Village with......

Wimbledon, that top-drawer tennis championship played on grass way over on the other side of the pond, is currently underway. What's more, it's coming under fire for "using marksmen to shoot down dive-bombing pigeons" interfering with the matches on Centre Court. Mean! Typically, Wimbledon uses scary hawks to halt (arguably) adorable pigeons from game interference. The bully birds, however, haven't done the trick this year. Wimbledon spokesman Johnny Perkins tells ESPN, "the hawks are......

Monday night's show at Café Du Nord was evidence that San Francisco loves Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos. This makes those of us from their hometown of Indianapolis quite proud, especially considering how dauntingly aloof San Francisco audiences can often be. ...

There's a new fight brewing over the transformation of SOMA from gritty industrial/dot.com boom hot spot to chic condo place-to-be and it's not led by Chris Daly. Or advocates for the poor. Or even Beyond Chron. Nope, it's being led members of a tennis club who are complaining about the demolishing of the San Francisco Tennis Club at Fifth and Brannan to make way for condos. Fighting Developers-- not just for the poor anymore. ...

We admit it, it's been a slow couple of weeks here at SchwartzenWatcher HQ. Nothing much has been going on as the Governator has been pretty quiet lately being all wonky and acting all Governor-like. But then, like manna from heaven, we get word that after a few days in D.C. schmoozing with other Governors and enjoying the fact that the Chinese control our ports and not a bunch of A-rabs, we discover that from there, Arnie is off to Columbus for the Arnold Fitness Expo and Arnold Classic. And kicking things off will be a pay-per-view Mixed Martial Arts Championship, the Gracie Fighting Championships actually, one that will be have as it's master of ceremonies our Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Our Governor is SO not like your Governor. ...

We really do feel pretty bad for the poor Berkeley high schooler who tried to throw a little house party while her parents were away and ended up with around 100 people at her place and a guy from another school stabbed to death over a skateboard. Her mistake? Putting up a post about the party on MySpace. (We heard that last bit on KRON 4 news but can't find it confirmed in print anywhere.)
The Examiner starts running an online Police Blotter for the South Bay. So good. Items include: a man who called the cops to "arbitrate" a dispute at the South City Papa Joe's because he forgot his wallet and couldn't pay for his meal; a Redwood City woman cutting her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend with a car key, and the robbery of two bottles of Red Bull from a convenience store on Willow Road (the obligatory joke about it giving you wings was made as well.)
And a car chase went bad last night, as a person fleeing the cops in a stolen VW Beetle lost control and spun into a Honda as he ran through a red light at Fifth and Brannan. The Honda plowed into the Golden Gate Tennis Club, and the Beetle ran into a fire hydrant, sending water pouring into the air. The cops caught the Beetle driver trying to hide in the tennis club. ...

We got to see an advance screening of Donal Logue's Tennis, Anyone...?, and liked it enough that we're going to tell you to go over to Berkeley's Act 1&2 to see it. Reminiscent of the indie classic Bottle Rocket, this semi-autobiographical film (written, directed, and starring Logue) details the small failures and triumphs of two slightly successful actors. We'll be interviewing Logue next week, so see the movie now so you know what the......
