Local blogger and photographer Todd Lappin — the intrepid explorer behind Telstar Logistics, Bernalwood and probably more than one Photo du Jour around these parts — bravely allowed the host of the earthquake preparedness webshow "Totally Unprepared" scrutinize his home (much of which he designed himself) for potential earth-rattling hazards. And how did it fair? Well, aside from having an earthquake kit and a fire extinguisher, let's just say we'd rather not be standing next to Todd's industrial shelving when the big one hits.

Mission Murder Misses Media Radar
While Oakland received tons of press over the weekend for its recent spate of murder, this Mission murder, which happened near 25th and South Van Ness (be careful, Phone Booth patrons!), went all but unnoticed. Around 6:45 p.m. last Friday, two men approached 21-year-old Jose Reynoso and shot him in the head and chest. He was taken to SF General Hospital where he died the following day.

Vertigo-Inducing Views From One Rincon
Since it's bound to open soon and we'll certainly never be able to step foot inside of the million dollar-plus apartments in SF's new and phallic-y One Rincon Hill -- biggest apartment building west of the Mississippi, damn straight -- the scary-sounding and fancy-named Telstar Logistics snapped some shots from inside the budding building.
Your Commute: Slowest Drives
Bless the Chron's heart, they know kvetching about traffic is going to move a lot of papers on the newsstand -- so they go above the fold with their article about the twenty worst bottlenecks on the highway. As you'd've guessed, that horrendous interchange at Emeryville for 80/580/880 where you have to get over five lanes just to go south ranks high on the list.
SFist Blotter
Yuck. A SFPD cop was arrested for soliciting a 14-year-old prostitute in Oakland. The cop's a motorcycle squad supervisor and is a 37-year veteran of the force. The 14-year-old said it was her first time on the streets, the cop was apparently cooperative when the Oakland PD caught the two of them in his car, and told the Oakland officers that he thought the girl was 18.
