The Grateful Dead, of course, recently completed what appeared to be a set of last hurrah shows: An attempt to ween themselves and their fans off of one another known as the Fare Thee Well Tour, performances of which took place at Levi's Stadium. But Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, and Bob Weir just couldn't quit, announcing San Francisco and Los Angeles performances of a new spinoff called Dead and Company last month.

Over 9,000 people have signed on to the petition, which points to the proximity of the Santa Clara stadium to the Dead's birthplace. And, beyond drawing on the band's Bay Area ties, there's the numerological coincidence. "To commemorate 50 years of SuperBowl history, what better group of musical engineers to set precidence during such an occasion, who are also celebrating 50 years of historical excellence, than the remaining members of The Grateful Dead! On so many levels, this would set the bar for a monumentous and unforgettable SuperBowl half-time performance, not only for those in attendance, but for the entire world over." Makes you think!

The petition seems poised to reach 10,000 signatures soon, the stated goal. At that point, nothing will happen.

Have your bicep-kissing Kaepernicking moments felt a little lackluster lately? Having some underwhelming performances in the endzone? Maybe what you are missing, dear faithful Niners fan, is the power of God in the former of inky arm decorations. Enter: KaeperTats, full-size recreations of the late season starter's much publicized arm adornments.

Kaepertat.com, the enterprising site capitalizing on Kaeper Fever in the lead up to the Super Bowl, doesn't offer much insight on how long these temporary tats last. (If we put them on right now, will they last until February? Or will we have to refrain from showering?) They do, however, offer a trio of Kaepernick body markings for a reasonable (we guess?) $19.99. Sadly, you won't be able to go full Kaepernick with the Phil Collins-quoting "Against All Odds" chestpiece, but if you order by January 31st you can have a stack of tattoos ready for everyone at your Super Bowl party.

Below, 5-year-old Sarah Redden demonstrates how to properly kiss one's biceps (while rapping):

Keep in mind, though, that since we've got TiVo, this is about the only time during the year we actually do watch commercials. Because of that we might not be able to tell whether these Superbowl ads were actually any better or worse than what's on TV on a nightly basis. But we'll still feel free to criticize nonetheless.

We're not sure just when in the broadcast of the million dollar spots actually starts. Pre-national anthem? Post? After the first kick-off? So we'll just start with the first commercial that was remotely funny and go on from there. Bud Light and its added fire-breathing features. That screaming cat noise gets us every time...Following that was another take on the old horse's-head-in-the-bed scene from . In this case it had something to do with a luxury car taking revenge on another luxury car. Or something. Really, the most clever thing about the ad is the actor who plays the screaming sleeper was actually in The Godfather, as Moe Greene, the guy who gets shot in the eye while getting a massage...
The Godfather
