SFist Tonight

MUSIC: The 8th annual Outsound New Music Summit, which is happening all week, invites you to Touch the Gear. The event is a free, hands-on, family-friendly environment that allows audiences to roam among the artists and their sonic inventions, asking questions, making noise and learning how these often one-of-a-kind set-ups work, demystifying the technology while inspiring the creativity.

ART: Yerba Buena Center for the Arts concludes its 2008-2009 season with Nick Cave Soundsuits Collaboration, which combines the movement of New York-based choreographer Ronald K. Brown and the shimmering Soundsuits of Chicago-based sculptor Nick Cave. Tonight, Saturday, and Sunday nights, in collaboration with Brown and Evidence dancer Shani Collins, local performers will bring to life Cave’s Soundsuits—ephemeral full-body sculptures composed of recycled clothing, beads, bottle caps, toys, twigs and hair. The exhibition runs through July 5.

Tonight at The Lab, audience-interactive EnviroSonic kicks off season three of the critically acclaimed Soundwave>Series, a two-month long exploration of sonic art.
