Airbnb, the legitimate way for people to get cash for letting people crash on their couch, just signed a 10-year lease in the Giftcenter building at 888 Brannan, for a space that's about five times as big as their current Potrero Hill digs. The move, says CEO Brian Chesky, "is a commitment not only to staying in San Francisco, but creating a lot of jobs." Maybe now the City will ease off of trying to collect hotel taxes from them?

Eat Here Tonight: Fondue Cowboy
No pop-up nonsense. No umeboshi and deer butt wine pairings. No having to go to the goddamn Mission again. Just melted cheese in a bowl and a glass or five of wine in SoMa. That's it. That's all. Soak it in. Tonight's lousy weather calls for hot, savory cheese, and lots of it. And there's no better place for such a treat than at Fondue Cowboy on Folsom Street. Hold onto your lactobacillus acidophilus, folks, here's the wildly tasty, western-themed menu:

Christie's To Auction Eddie Rickenbacker's Tiffany Lamps
You know Eddie Rickenbacker's, right? That downtown place where you go after work to get trashed while remembering Mr. Higgins? (May he rest in peace.) Well, Christie's will auction off some of the lamps that used to grace the place. According to Associated Press, " June 14, Christie's auction house in New York will sell the collection of six Tiffany lamps and one chandelier that once decorated the bar that was owned by Norman Jay Hobday, who died in February 2011."
Skyline Watch: Second Rincon Hill Tower Goes Up In July
After years of delays, the second tower at the One Rincon Hill development in SoMa is set to start construction this summer. At 50 stories tall and less than 300 units, the new tower will annoy homeowners who paid a premium for Bay views in the original One Rincon tower, but the two glimmering high rises will share a 3,600 square foot fitness center and a 4,000 square foot roof deck that will surely make them the envy of every Bay Bridge-commuting downtown exec for years to come.
25 Lusk, The Hottest Restaurant In Town?
As noted in today's Inside Scoop, SoMa's designer-chic Twenty-Five Lusk currently stands as the hottest restaurant in town... according to OpenTable's users, that is. Also: OpenTable's list, based on an estimated 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by Open Table diner for 12,000+ restaurants in the U.S., boasts only one San Francisco spoon. And Lusk is it. Odd.
SFist Editor To Win 3rd Largest Mega Millions Lotto Tonight [Updated]
The Mega Millions lottery now stands at a whopping $363 million. And your SFist editor feels certain, without a doubt to win the entire jackpot, now the third-largest ever, come Tuesday night's drawing. How will we spend it, you ask? Well, first, we will keep our job. We like it here. However, instead of writing to you from a SoMa Victorian that rattles whenever the building washing machine goes into spin cycle, we will instead hold court from inside Anne Fougeron-designed Tehama Grasshopper Residence. (What, did you think we planned on moving to Nob Hill or buying a renovated Victorian in the Mission like every other tech gazillionaire? Perish the thought. We're staying South of Market.)
And Now, Dede Wilsey Flanked By Nearly Nude Gay Guys
Another reason we love SFGate's Catherine Bigelow? Shot like this: Society dowager Dede Wilsey posing next to male performers Adam Musgrave and Ronnie Reg Waite at a tricked out SOMA loft on Thursday night. (Typical Dede!) The bash was in honor of Jean Paul Gaultier's Bay Area arrival and his new exhibition at the deYoung. Read/see all about it.

Fluffy Grilled Cheese At Darwin Cafe
For lunch today, we had intended on eating the Roast Beef Sandwich at Darwin Cafe — SoMa's not-so-best-kept secret, a small cafe/sandwich shop tucked away on Ritch and Bryant — but we were either handed the wrong box or, most likely, swiped another person's order by accident. We can get aggressive at Darwin. The place is that good. And since it's packed at lunchtime with long lines, we tend to get grabby. But what a mistake it was for if we took our original order, we would never have had the pleasure of experiencing their Grilled Cheese with Fromage Blac, the airiest and fluffiest yet most complex grilled cheese we've crammed down our throat in ages.

The ensuing standoff lasted over two hours while an SFPD tactical unit and the SWAT team attempted to dislodge the shooters who were reportedly armed with an assault rifle.

The suspects, Jesus Duran and Javier Perez (ages 28 and 27 respectively), jumped the victim near the corner of Seventh and Minna after asking her for directions. After being thrown in to their vehicle and having her laptop stolen, the woman managed to bail out of the vehicle a block away at Eighth Street.

In a bit of year-end bar news this week, we learn that Peter Osborne, the man behind such crowded Giants pre-game drinking spots as MoMo's, Pete's Tavern and Pedro's Cantina, has plans to expand his King Street empire in to something like a local version of a Dave & Buster's in the coming year.

We could not be more serious about getting these dangerous people off the road and making San Francisco safer," said traffic Capt. Al Casciato of the San Francisco Police Dept.
Folsom Street Fair Date Changed For First Time In 20 Years
Typically held on the last weekend in September, milquetoast sex and fetish fete Folsom Street Fair will move its date for the first time in 20 years. Next year's butt blowout will take place on Sunday, September 23. Why? Well, according to queer publication The Bay Area Reporter, it's because of Oracle OpenWorld. "Organizers opted to move the festival, which draws hundreds of thousands of people each year, to avoid a scheduling conflict with Oracle OpenWorld, which will run September 30 through October 4."
