Well, we'll tell you right now to use a pencil and not a pen to write this upcoming date down -- supposedly, Guns N Roses (in this incarnation: yes Axl, no Slash) have announced two dates at the Warfield next month, on Sept. 20 and 21, and the tickets ($75 a pop) are slated to go on sale this Sunday, August 20.

The battle over lap dances in strip clubs moved to the Entertainment Commission last Friday as they held an often contentious, standing-room-only hearing on the issue. During the meeting, strippers, err "exotic dancers," testified in front of the commission to say that the proposed new rules, that calling for the ending of private rooms and booths and it's possible ending of lap dancing, could impede their ability to make money. In our minds, the testimony was given like something out of "Hot for Teacher" in which the moment the dancer got up to the podium, they tore their clothes off to reveal slinky lingerie underneath, but we have a feeling things didn't happen that way (BTW, while searching for the "Hot For Teacher" clip we also stumbled upon a bootleg video of VH doing it live in an outdoor concert in 1984 and it is awesome). Oh well. Also testifying in support of the legislation were local Bay Area rappers who claimed that no more lap dances in strip clubs would hurt their ability to "be gangsta."
There's going to be a second season of CBS's reality TV series "Rock Star," and this time they're searching for a singer to front Supernova, a new supergroup featuring Tommy Lee on drums, Gilby Clarke on guitar and the Bay Area's own Jason Newsted, formerly of Metallica, on bass.
If E3 is the sort of thing you care about, you've probably already gorged yourself on more coverage than you can even possibly remember. Last week's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles was geared toward videogame industry insiders -- sort of an opportunity for game developers and reporters to stand around sniff each others' butts -- but there was plenty of stuff going on that's of interest to casual gamers as well. E3 ain't just for the Xenis and Wils of the world, after all, so we packed up and drove down to LA last week to schmooze with gamey nerds and check out some cool upcoming amusement devices.
When we were younger, so much younger than today, we had a hate/hate relationship with the band Journey, probably caused by all those eighth grade dances we went to where the DJ would play “Open Arms” and we'd circle around and around the dance floor trying to summon up the courage to ask someone to dance while all the couples made out in the corner. Since then, we’ve evolved from a love/hate relationship to a love/love relationship with the band, a result of discovering just how much fun drunkenly singing “Don’t Stop Believing” at the top of our lungs can be. Obviously, we are not the only one’s who feel this way as other Journey fans, actually that of high-pitched lead singer Steve Perry (like there’d be one for that lame-ass wanna-be Steve Perry who replaced him), have created their very own site of Steve Perry Slash Fiction- Perry Tales.
