Once upon a time way back in the late nineties, a light-smearing outfit called the Cubby Creatures would perform the entire score to Jesus Christ Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Weber's second best rock opera. Since the band broke up, there's been a lack of public venues in which you can sing selections from JCS while bombed off Sierra Nevada and pot. But now, thanks to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Bad Flower Productions, you can once croon the tunes to Superstar. Thank God.

BENEFIT: Green Planet Films presents a benefit screening of Truck Farm!, in which filmmaker Ian Cheney turned the 40 square feet of space in his truck's bed into an urban farm bed. The screening will be followed by a discussion led by David Perkins from Malibu Compost on the importance of growing healthy soil, to grow healthy plants. Space is limited, so get there early!
Beware: Grease Sing-a-Long at Dolores Park, 6/19
There used to be the greatest little bar in the city's Bail Bonds district, one that had karaoke nights. Geniusly, the proprietors would charge $10 per song to amateur talent who dared to sing selections from the deplorable ode to the '50s jailbait, Grease. While we can't recall the bar's name, its philosophy is what we remember most -- namely, that people in life should be charged a pretty penny to utter such nonsense as, "We go together like rama lama lama ke ding a de dinga a dong."

Let's All Go To The Movies: Local Feasts!
La Vie En Rose (the Embarcadero) is a full course, all four food groups, soup and cocktails, dinner of a film. (It screened at the SFIFF, and we loved it then too!) And if you haven’t had your fill by the end of Olivier Dahan’s homage to the great Parisian icon Edith Piaf (breathtakingly portrayed by Marion Cotillard), you can always watch it again.
Wednesdays, The New Wednesdays
Check out this hook while my Wednesday revolves it! Today: The Del Sol string quartet performs pieces by female Korean composer Hyo-Shin Na at the Main Library today at 2. Na will be there to introduce the pieces. We're partial to Del Sol and their 20th-21st century stylings (they played this correspondent's wedding), so go check 'em out!
