The Sigur Ros show in Berkeley on Friday night was notable for the rabidity of the fans, the beauty of the music, and the cooperation of the elements. Fans on the front row arrived at 10:30 am (for the 9 pm set). The ethereal pop/rock of Sigur Ros was perfect for the ampitheater setting. And when did the deluge begin? During the final encore, as if on cue. Oh, yah, and Jared Leto was there too. What did y'all think?

SFist loves all things local, especially our bands. In between releasing the new album, and touring in support of it, Film School’s Krayg Burton answered SFist’s questions. We were especially thrilled with his choice of best taco (La Taqueria) because not only is it our favorite as well, but it also gives us a legit (semi) reason to name drop. So guess who SFist saw there on Saturday night? David Cross! Fresh out of our mourning the end of Arrested Development the night before we ordered, looked up, and there he was, as if to reassure us that everything in TV will be alright.
Sorry to post about Sigur Ros yet again, but would you believe there's going to be listening party tonight for "Takk," their new album? This time it's at The Cellar, a slightly smug Financial-District club that bills itself as "San Francisco's only Subterranean Nightclub," a shameless slap in the faces of all our hard-working local Mole People. Anyway, a bunch of folks from Rasputin spin there most Monday nights, and they're all jazzed up (or however Rasputin people get excited) about "Takk," and they got in touch with Universal Records and the rest of the story is a haze of free admission and drink specials. The album plays from 8-10 tonight; then record-spinning, dead-Russian-monk-steez, until 2 a.m.-ish.
If you're wondering, Tuesday night, where all the cool kids have gone, look no further than 111 Minna's free Sigur Ros listening party from 8pm to 11pm. Admit it: you've always been curious about just what exactly goes on in that place, with its huge shameless windows and clutches of hipsters huddled around the side entrance. Sponsored by Filter Magazine, Popscene and KCRW -- basically a trifecta of awesome music -- and organized by friend-of-SFist Holly, the party'll feature giveaways, drink specials, and music from the sigurians' new album, "Takk." Ahh... satisfying.
