A 49-year-old man attempting to lure police in to shooting him to death went on a rampage in his SoMa apartment building Tuesday night that ended in a brutal-looking punch-up from SFPD officers and accusations of police brutality. The man, who has not been identified, apparently assaulted multiple victims in his building near Third and Perry Streets to get the attention of responding police officers before threatening them with a gun he didn't have.

Three Overnight Shootings In Oakland, One Fatal
In addition to the shootings on this side of the Bay last night, three separate shootings in Oakland left one 48-year-old man dead and two others wounded. The fatal incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. Thursday when the identified man was shot and killed while walking down the 800 block of 26th Street in West Oakland. It was the 11th homicide of the year thus far.
Fruitvale Taco Truck Stickup Ends In Shootout
A couple of attempted robbers and the owner of the taco truck they tried to stickup got in to a gun battle in a heavily-armed corner of Oakland late last night. According to the Chronicle, two men walked up to the Tacos el Mazatlan truck parked at the corner of Fruitvale Boulevard around 1:30 a.m., waving a gun and demanding cash from owner Omar Castillas. Castillas, who was cleaning up at the time, pulled out his own weapon and the two men opened fire on each other.
Fatal Berkeley Shooting Leaves Home "Riddled With Bullet Holes"
In Berkeley's first homicide of the year, a man walking to a friend's home was shot multiple times on Shattuck Avenue near Emerson Street. The victim was on his way to watch basketball with a friend when he was gunned down in the street. Police arriving on the scene found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and the friend's home "riddled with bullet holes."
Family Of Charles Hill Sues BART, And They've Got Oscar Grant's Attorney
The family of Charles Hill, the "wobbly drunk" homeless man shot and killed by BART police last July has filed a civil suit against BART seeking monetary damages for the incident. According to the Examiner's report on the filing, Oakland attorney John Burris will be representing Hill's next of kin. Burris, anti-BART PD readers might remember, successfully secured nearly $3 million in damages for Oscar Grant's mother and daughter in the wrongful death case that followed the trial of BART police officer Johannes Mehserle.
Bystander Became Target In Fatal Richmond Shooting
In Richmond, a 22-year-old college student was shot and killed by a gunman while sitting in a parked car not far from the Richmond BART station. The victim, identified as Contra Costa Community College student Edwin Martinez, was in his car on a residential street with his sister around 7 p.m. last night when the gunman came around a corner shooting at another vehicle while chasing it on foot.
Bayview, Bernal Heights Hosted Weekend Shootings
Gunshots rang out in three separate shooting incidents this Saturday — two in the Bayview and one during a mugging in Bernal Heights. In the first Bayview incident a 20-year-old man was shot on a T-Third Muni platform near Gilman Avenue.

Nobody Shot At 16th And Valencia
Around 12:50 a.m. last night a 911 caller reported six to nine shots fired at the intersection of 16th and Valencia in the Mission. Police checking out the scene found six bullet casings, but unlike countless random shootings at 16th and Mission a block over not a single person was reportedly hit by the gunfire.
Cop Shoots, Kills Alleged Drunk Driver in Santa Clara
A 42-year-old man was shot and killed by a police officer during a routine traffic stop Saturday night around 9:45 p.m. in Santa Clara. The policeman, a 2-year veteran of the force, pulled the man over on suspicion of a DUI on the 2400 block of Karen Drive. As the Chron reports, the cop said the man became uncooperative, and the cop called for backup. Then the suspect reached for a loaded revolver, and the cop shot him in self-defense. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

$25,000 Reward Offered In Fatal Shooting Of 5-Year-Old Oakland Boy
A five-year-old Oakland boy died at Children's Hospital late Friday night after being struck in the neck by shots fired from a car passing by his family's taco truck on International Boulevard. Gabriel Martinez Jr. was the only victim of the drive-by shots that rang out just before 9 p.m. Friday. He was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead about an hour later.

19-Year-Old Murdered In Bayview Saturday
Saturday evening, around 4:50 p.m., SFPD officers responding to a shooting call on Carr street in the Bayview District arrived to find 19-year-old victim Treyvon Butler suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Butler was declared dead at the scene. As of Sunday evening, SFPD had yet to announce any arrests in the case.

During the early morning Black Friday rush in the East Bay suburbs, a family of eager shoppers was held up at gunpoint in the parking lot of a San Leandro Wal-Mart. Reports say the multiple suspects were not fellow shoppers, but they were definitely looking for a deep discount when they approached the victims emerging from the big box retailer with their holiday haul just before 2 a.m. this morning.
No One Shot After Eleven Rounds Fired in Hunters Point
Not a single person was found shot after eleven rounds went off around 11 a.m. Saturday morning in Hunters Point. A neighbor, who had been sitting in his car near the first block of Northridge Road heard the shots and looked up to see the gunman popping off rounds in the direction of an apartment building. Police responding to the scene found plenty of spent bullet casings, but not a lick of damage to the building and no injuries were reported inside Bay City News reports via the Appeal.

A 25-year-old victim was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the sidewalk near Fitzgerald Avenue and Ingalls street in the Bayview yesterday evening. SFPD officers arrived on the scene around 5:20 p.m. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Bayview Shooting Leaves One Injured on Halloween Night
Around 9 p.m. last night, SFPD officers responding to a crime scene in the Bayview found a 24-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound at Revere Ave and Jennings Street. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries and the incident appears to be the first (and only, so far) report of violence on the historically violent Halloween night in the city.
Teen Suspect Sought in Early Morning Mission Homicide
Police are searching for a male suspect, believed to be between the ages of 16 and 18, who fled the scene of a Mission district homicide just before 2 a.m. last night. The suspect shot a 26-year-old victim several times in the back after a verbal argument broke out near 23rd and Harrison, before fleeing in a late-model green Subaru Outback.
Cupertino Gunman Shareef Allman Shot Himself
From Santa Clara County, the medical examiner's office reports that Shareef Allman, the gunman who opened fire on his coworkers at the Lehigh Cement Plant before leading authorities on a peninsula manhunt, died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Last week, the Santa Clara Sheriff's office originally reported Allman had been shot and killed by shot and killed by Sheriff's deputies.
21-Year-Old Man Shot and Killed in Bayview Saturday Night
Around 10 p.m. Saturday night, Police officers responding to reports of a shooting near Thomas Avenue in the Bayview found a 21-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a liquor store on Keith Street. SFPD Now Says Broadway Shooting Started With Mistaken Identity
Late updates from the SFPD's investigation in to last Sunday's North Beach shooting that put two innocent bystanders in the hospital: The department is now telling the Chronicle that officers approached Jesus Paredes Rodriguez thinking he matched a suspect description from an earlier crime bulletin, which sort of explains their eagerness to make the simple marijuana bust. 5-Year-Old Girl Injured in Bayview Shooting
A young girl and her father were caught in the crossfire of a Bayview shootout yesterday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. as they walked home along Third Street near Palou Ave. Police believe at least two suspects opened fire on each when the little girl was hit in the left knee and fell to the ground. Officers in the area called paramedics and the girl was rushed to S.F. General with non-life threatening injuries. She was in stable condition as of yesterday evening.
SFPD Officers Shoot at Suspected Drug Dealer, Hit Bystanders Instead
An easy North Beach drug bust went awry early Saturday morning when two SFPD officers took a shot at a fleeing suspect, but ended up nicking two innocent bystanders instead. The officers witnessed Jesus Paredes Rodriguez, 20 of San Pablo, carrying out what looked like a drug deal on Broadway around 2 a.m. When the officers approached Rodriguez, he took off running and waved a semi-automatic pistol at the cops, prompting them to open fire. According to SFPD sources, only one bullet was fired, but it was off target and struck two bystanders each in the leg.
Children in Fairfield Witness Parents' Murder-Suicide
In Fairfield last night, police responded to a reports of a shooting just before 7 p.m. to find two victims, a 39-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, dead on the scene. According to CBS5, the man shot his wife of eight years during an argument in the garage before turning the gun on himself. Sadly, there were four witnesses in and around the home at the time - three of them, were children of the deceased.

Mission / Shooting: At around 12:30am this morning, a 22 year old man was shot in the Mission District as he was leaving his work. The attack took place near 19th St. and San Carlos, and the police’s gang task force are investigating the incident. The police are so far treating this as a case of mistaken identity, as the man is not thought to be an affiliated gang member. The victim is currently in serious condition, and he's believed to be an employee of Hog & Rocks restaurant.
