Regency Ballroom Shooting Suspect Sought

The rapscallion who shot eight people outside KMEL's House of Soul concert at the Regency Ballroom has yet to be apprehended by authorities. Last night, if you recall, a fight between two men escalated into a fight between four men, which resulted in a man who pulled out a gun. And that man? According to SF Chronicle is "described as black, in his 30s, wearing an unbuttoned white shirt with pinstripes, white T-shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap."

Shooting Outside Regency Ballroom Sunday Night

Three people were shot outside the Regency Ballroom at Van Ness and Sutter on Sunday night where radio station KMEL was hosting its annual House of Soul event. The incident allegedly began as a fist fight which spilled out of the venue on to Van Ness, and ended with gun shots fired. As of this writing there's no word as to whether any passersby were injured, but according to ABC 7 none of the shooting victims were gravely injured. Sidenote: There was a wedding reception going on in the Masonic temple space on the top floor of the building at the time of the shooting, which was unfortunately interrupted by the sound of gun shots.

Two Men Shot In Bayview Last Night

In what we hope looked like a comedy of errors, two men in Bayview shot each other last night at around 8:30 p.m. According to reports, the two men were injured "in what appears to be a shootout involving two groups."

2 Shot in Potrero Hill

Two men were shot in San Francisco's Potrero Hill district late last night. According to CBS 5/BCN, "Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the unit block of Dakota Street at around 11:30 p.m., police said, and found two men suffering gunshot wounds." The two men are expected to live.

CHINATOWN/SUNDAY: A man was shot in the city's finest neighborhood, Chinatown. The victim, according to reports, was an adult male, who was shot at Grant Avenue and Jackson Street "a little after 12 a.m. [on] Sunday."

SATURDAY/MISSION: At around 9:40 p.m. at 14th and Mission streets, someone was stabbed. The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening stab wounds. No arrests have been made, no suspect info is available.

SF Shooting Injures Man

San Francisco's Mission district isn't the only neighborhood to see shootings over the weekend. The San Francisco Police Department, according to CBS 5/BCN, are currently "investigating a Sunday night shooting that occurred at San Bruno Avenue and Woolsey Street" in the Bayview area.

Arrests Have Been Made in Yesterday's Fatal Shooting in the Mission

Police arrested two suspects a few hours after three men were shot at Papa Potrero's Pizza at 24th Street and Potrero Ave around 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon. Two of the men died from their wounds, and the third victim is reported as not having life-threatening injuries.

Mission Plays Host to Shooting

While new residents continue to pull their hair out over graffiti getting painted over with more graffiti, actual crime hurting real-life people reigns supreme in the Mission. Take, for example, a shooting that occurred in the neighborhood late last night. Over at 25th and Florida, according to SF Appeal/BCN, "[o]ne man was shot and taken to a local hospital to be treated for an injury that did not appear to be life-threatening." No suspects have been arrested.

Early this morning in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood of San Francisco, a man was shot in the arm. According to CBS 5/BCN, "Officers responded to reports of several shots fired near Schwerin Street and Garrison Avenue at around midnight, according to the San Francisco Police Department." The wound, of course, was not life-threatening. No arrests have been made.

Police Search for Skyline College Shooting Suspects

After an 18-year-old man was shot in the butt and back at Skyline College yesterday in San Bruno, prompting the school's evacuation and immediate shutdown, police are looking for three suspects. There was some sort of altercation outside the school, resulting in gunfire. According to KTVU, "the three suspects fled north on Pacific Heights Boulevard, possibly in florescent purple Ford Escort with a paper license plate.' (A purple Ford Escort? How vulgar.) The alleged are described as "three black men all about 18 years old, one of whom had dreadlocks" and "wearing a white shirt, another...a red shirt, and the third a black-and-white shirt." So, if you know a gang of rapscallions who were involved in the Skyline College shooting, ones who look a lot like Color Me Badd, please call 911.

Shooting at Skyline College Prompts Evacuation

Skyline College in San Bruno has been evacuated after a shooting. One man, a student, has reportedly been hit in the back by an unknown gunman. Police have surrounded the building and are looking for the suspect(s).

Shooting Leaves Teen Brain-Dead

Early this morning, a shooting reported just after midnight at 2515 Foothill Boulevard in Oakland. According to CBS 5/BCN, "Officers arrived to find the teen suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared brain dead." No arrests have been made. Information on the shooting should be directed to the Oakland Police Department's homicide division at 510-238-3821.

2 Shot, Killed in Richmond Restaurant

Over at Pit Boss Barbeque, a restaurant located in Richmond at 12889 San Pablo Ave., two people were shot and killed around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night. The victims have been identified as Alvaro Garcia Jr., 23, and Intaz Ahmed, 32. While no motives have officially been determined, the shootings might have been gang-related. Four men are being questioned about what went down.

Four Wounded In Oakland Shooting

An unwelcome gift for the new Oakland police chief Anthony Batts? Last night's shooting on the 17500 block of 85th Street, which saw four people get shot a little after 9 p.m. According to reports, "the victims were taken to a hospital to be treated...and their injuries were not expected to be life threatening." No arrests have been made.

Suspect in Toll Bridge Shooting Arrested

The man suspected of shooting and killing a toll collector and transit worker at the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge toll plaza last night has been arrested. Richmond resident Nathaniel Burris, 46, "was spotted by a California Highway Patrol unit on Interstate 80 near Baxter, a town in the Sierra mountains." Authorities noticed his Ford van parked by the side of Interstate 80 near Eagle Lake," where the suspect was fast asleep. "When he spotted officers, he drove off, going up to 80 mph as deputies followed him," finally slowing down and turning himself in. Although a love triangle or a domestic dispute of some sort has been rumored, no one knows yet exactly why Burris killed Deborah Ross, 51, "who police say was sharing a home with Burris in Richmond" and Ersie Everett, 58, a San Leandro resident. The Contra Costa Times goes on to report that "Burris called a relative and confessed to the shootings."

SF and Oakland A.M. Shootings

Early Saturday morning, a 16-year-old girl was shot on the 3400 block of International Boulevard in Oakland. According to reports, after OPD officers saw a car driving "erratically" a little before 1:30 a.m., "officers stopped the vehicle, which had four people inside. They saw that the 16-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the vehicle, had been shot." The unidentified victim is at an Oakland hospital being treated for life-threatening injuries. In San Francisco, just before 3 a.m., a man was shot in the Bayview district in the unit block of Espanola Street. He is being treated for non-life threatening wounds. No arrests in either case were made.

Potrero Hill Plays Host to Three Shootings

Early this morning and late last night, according to Appeal/BCN, three people were shot in Potrero HIll. First, at 11 p.m. around the 23rd and Arkansas area, a man was shot. He is expected to survive. Then, on the 1800 block of 26th Street, a man and woman were plugged at around 3 a.m. Yikes! Fortunately, both are expected to survive. No arrests in either case have been made. Anyone from the area hear or know what went down?

Murder In the Bayview Last Night

A little before 5:30 p.m. last night, and Appeal reports that Delvon Fields, 28, was shot near the intersection of Third Street and McKinnon Avenue in the Bayview. Fields was rushed to SF General where he was later pronounced dead. No arrests have been made, no suspect information is available. Oakland Cops Kill Suspected Rapist

Yesterday. after two Oakland officers confronted a man on the 1400 block of 16th Avenue a little after 3 p.m., "the suspect pulled out a handgun and started firing at the officers." Which was stupid. Because then, to no one's surprise, the cops shot the man dead. As it turned out, the unidentified 36-year-old dead man also matched the description of a rape suspect. (This, of course, brings to mind suspected rapist Lovelle Mixon, who killed four OPD officers last March before being blown to bits himself.) goes on to report that the OPD officers "were placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard practice" after an officer-involved shooting death.

Teen Shot Dead Near Alamo Square Last Night

A little after 11 p.m. last night, two men were shot in the McAllister and Webster area of Alamo Square / Western Addition. A teenage boy, 17-year-old Xavier Gillette, later died at a nearby hospital. The other victim, however, is expected to survive. No arrests have been made. We'll update with more details as we find them.

Two Men Shot Inside North Beach Nightclub

Two men were shot inside Impala, a Broadway nightclub frequented by types who still think bottle service is cool, at around 1:15 a.m. this morning. According to 's cover story this week on "the failures of the San Francisco Entertainment Commission to adequately regulate violent clubs." Oops. Rightfully livid about this morning's violent shooting, Sam Young, owner of the nearby Dragon Bar, shot off a cross email to City Hall this morning, saying, "This should come as no surprise since I stated numerous times that this would happen ... As usual, City Hall does absolutely nothing and now there is another shooting, which could have and should have been prevented."

Woman Shot in the Tenderloin

Speaking of body parts, a woman was shot in the leg last night in the Tenderloin. According to CBS5 / BCN, the incident occurred at around 9 p.m. last night at (where else?) Eddy and Leavenworth streets. "The victim suffered a gunshot wound to her leg and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for the injury, which was not considered to be life-threatening." No arrests have been made.

Police Barricade San Jose Mobile Home After Shooting

A little before 9 a.m. this morning, inside the Chateau La Salle Mobile Home Park located near the Santa Clara County Fair grounds, a double shooting took place. Two people were shot, an unidentified man and woman. The entire park has been barricaded by San Jose police. Mercury News reports that "[a] neighbor and family member say the suspected gunman is the woman's ex-husband" and had taken her family hostage. According to CBS 5/ BCN, the "[t]wo victims were apparently shot but were expected to survive ... One was transported to the hospital but the other was still inside the home with the suspect. A 9-year-old child was removed from the house unharmed." The man is still inside the home with the female victim.

FRIDAY / MARINA: Marking a rare guest appearance on SFist Blotter is the controversial Marina neighborhood. [cue Ritual Roasters coffee spit take] See, during a two-hour standoff inside a Marina hotel at 11 p.m., Waddell Williams, 33, allegedly shot at officers from inside his "touristy hotel room." The incident occurred at the Chelsea Motor Inn, located at Lombard and Webster streets. No one was injured. Williams was arrested. No word yet as to why he shot at SFPD officers.

Man Arrested In Connection with Oakland Motel Sister Murders

The unidentified man suspected of killing Geraldine Karina Latchison, 23, and her sister, Angel Latchison, 20, was arrested by police at around 2:30 a.m. this morning. Police found him inside a house at 16th Street and Myrtle. The man reportedly called the police too. Strange. Anyway, if you recall, the two sisters "were found shot dead at the Value Inn on West MacArthur Boulevard in North Oakland on Monday night." The sisters' family members claim that they were living there since June 5, after "being evicted from their West Oakland home in an ongoing dispute with a landlord." (Er, apologies if we ever suggested otherwise.) The two reportedly had an ongoing relationship with a man, although we can't say for sure if it's the same man who, most likely, will be charged with their murders.

Oscar Grant Shooting Trial Set for October

The trial for a jury to decide whether Bart cop Johannes Mehserle, 27, intended to shoot and kill Oscar Grant at the Fruitvale Bart station on New Year's Day will happen on October 13, ruled Alameda County Superior Court Judge Morris Jacobson today. Set to spark a media frenzy in Alameda County, Jacobson also set a hearing on September 11th, "asking that Mehserle's trial be moved away from Alameda County because he doesn't think Mehserle can get a fair trial in the county," reports CBS 5. If you recall, just after the preliminary hearing earlier this month, Superior Court Judge C. Don Clay admitted the following: "There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Mehserle intended to shoot Oscar Grant with a gun, not a Taser."

Shooting at San Francisco High School

One person was shot and another wounded at the International Studies Academy High School today, located at 18th and Potrero. According to Chron, the shooting "happened at 1:20 p.m. just as summer school was letting out for the day," going on to report, that "the victim was not a student and was not badly hurt. Police have more than one suspect in custody." The school was then placed on lock down. Kids these days.

Gunman Opens Fire at Holocaust Museum in Washington DC

Scores of police are on the scene at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC after shots were fired inside the complex. According to early reports, two people were hit. A rifle might have been used as well. An eyewitness account claims that a security guard was "down and bleeding on the floor." San Francisco's Holocaust memorials, as many of you recall, also have trouble keeping chaos at bay. The gunman was shot and arrested. DCist has more on the story.

Two Children Shot Inside Berkeley Home

A few days after a Vallejo toddler was shot while sleeping in her parents' bed, Berkeley played host to another kids-meet-gunfire incident. Two children aged 3 and 6 were shot inside their home at around 5 a.m. this morning on the 1500 block of Oregon Street. Their wounds, thankfully, were not life-threatening. According to the Chronicle, "responding officers found a home on the block had been hit by multiple bullets." Police do not suspect that the shooting was random.
