London Designer Sends Anti-Twitter Sentiment Down The Runway

Like the hours after 5 p.m., it feels like it is always Fashion Week somewhere. And this week, that somewhere was London, where designer Ashish Gupta made a runway plea for "More glitter, less Twitter," a reference, Footwear News writes, to "President Donald Trump’s affinity for using the social media platform."

As we of course know, most members of the population don't need a sparkly shirt to push them out of the nest: Twitter's last earnings report revealed yet another quarter of infinitesimal growth, even as CEO Jack Dorsey said that Trump's 140-character prolificacy means "The whole world is watching Twitter. While we may not be currently meeting everyone’s growth expectations, there is one thing that continues to grow and outpace our peers: Twitter’s influence and impact."

Would a designer showing clothing with an anti-Twitter message count as "impact"? Well, you know what they say — all press is good press, but never, ever try to press any clothing that's covered in sequins and glitter.

Giants Cancel Order for 20,000 Melky Cabrera T-shirts

An order for 20,000 Melky Cabrera T-shirts were nixed soon after revelations came to light that the 28-year-old All-star MVP player tested positive for testosterone. He received a 50 game suspension (and almost ruined everything, ever) due to the unfortunate doping.

"The original shirts had featured last month's All-Star game MVP but have now been replaced by a 'Gigantes' version with center fielder Angel Pagan's name on the back," Giants spokesperson Staci Slaughter explained to KTVU. "They will be handed out in a giveaway for a Sept. 8 game against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers."

So, congratulations to you, Pagan! You could be the Sutton Foster of MLB.

This fashion ban comes on the heels of Cabrera and his associates' failed attempt to hoodwink MLB by creating a created a phony website, one selling the banned substance, to prove his innocence. Since he's been suspended, fans have appeared at AT&T Park donning anti-Cabrera attire (see above).

Wear Your Muni Pride On Your Chest

While these t-shirts have already been ballyhooed about over the last week on other sites, we feel the need to bring them to your attention. For those of you who take Muni, which is most of you, why not show some love for your favorite lines via one of these nifty t-shirts? Yes. We know. Muni can suck. But there are the occasional moments that (almost) make it worth the trouble. Take, for example, when the J-Church heads down Dolores Park. Such a view! Or, just before it makes that hairpin turn prior to barreling down 18th Street, the view from the 33-Stanyan. Stunning! Better yet, the all too infrequent 38XA- and 38XB-Geary lines, which whisks passengers from Seal Rock to downtown in record time. Glorious!
