May's Asian-American Heritage Month, so of course there's an accompanying street fair to emphasize the fun! Stop by Howard Street between 5th and 7th any time between 11 a.m. and 6 for food, music, community awareness booths, and fun across all the Asian ethnic groups.

This is a little late to be posted- but we did just want to give a nod to the youth short films screening as part of the SF Women's Film Festival on Saturday afternoon in the Audre Lorde Room at the Women’s Building. The whole viewing lasted about an hour or so, but it managed to showcase a whole lot of youth talent in a brief time period.

We did a confused circle around the first floor of the Women's Building Saturday night, until we noticed the sign which you see at your right, telling us to go upstairs for the SF Women's Film Festival documentary shorts screening, featuring movies all directed by women.

Yesterday was the opening night party of the Women’s Film Festival ! The night kicked off with LGBTQ films and included acoustic band Trusting Lucy performing before the show, trailers for movies on everything from Gwen Araujo to trannie-bike-messenger-speed-addicts, shorts by writer/ director/ actress and general lesbian-icon Guinevere Turner, and then a Q&A with Ms. Turner herself (yes we have a new crush).

We've been slightly afraid of Tribe 8 lead singer Lynn Breedlove ever since she crashed into us in a riotgrrl mosh pit, causing us moderate injury -- but that shouldn't stop you from checking out her short film "Godspeed," based on her book about speed freak bike messengers, which is screening next Wednesday, April 11, as part of the Third Annual SF Women's Film Festival!
