Morning-After Gay Pride Twitter Updates

While we could barely bring ourselves to care much for yesterday's barrage of Twitter updates hashtagged with #sfpride -- we get it, there were a lot of families and same-sex couples in New York can now live together in holy acrimony! -- we sit rapt today at some of the hangover-induced Twitter updates posted during the post-Pride hours. Here are a few we've enjoyed so far. more ›

San Francisco Gay Pride Parade 2011 Photos

             + 5 more

On Sunday morning, thousands of people converged on Market Street to celebrate Gay Pride 2011. New York, of course, was showered with lots of West Coast love this afternoon -- if you recall, the New York GOP-controlled Senate approved same-sex marriage on Friday -- but today was all about San Francisco queer appreciation. Everyone from Mayor Ed Lee to Sen. Mark Leno to almost every mayoral candidate to a smattering of celebrities (Olympia Dukakis!) and noted scribes (Susie Bright!) to cash-hungry corporations made contingent appearances at today's big parade. more ›

Head of SF's Gay Pride Steps Down Amid Allegations of Mismanagement

San Francisco Pride Executive Director Amy Andre vacated her post this week after it came to light that multiple non-profit groups who ran booths at this year's Civic Center celebration were owed $46,000. The official word from the Chron is that Andre, who was only hired earlier this year, misunderstood what they were owed, and this indebtedness is now being added to a nearly six-figure operational deficit that the organization is already facing. more ›

"Several organizations received thousands of dollars less than they had expected." Also, Board President Mikayla Connell announced her departure from Pride's, effective immediately. Oh, drama. (There's some controversy among the LGBTQs about whether we really still need to associate ourselves with one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and maybe we should go back to emphasizing freedom over pride, but we digress. No comment about this year's theme: "40 and Fabulous.") more ›

Bringing Home the Gold

Bringing Home the Gold

Or rather lucite? That's right, home town hero Hott Lixx Hulahan won the Air Guitar World Championships in Finland last week. For once, a victory on the international stage unmarred by accusations of doping, and underage-ness. Even the NY Times is celebrating. Congrats Hot Lixx!
