Offside! Penalty -- three months. Any talk of the Niners moving from San Francisco down to Santa Clara is before the snap (did we get our convoluted football metaphor right? SFist Jon's out on vacation this week so we can't check), now that the City of Santa Clara's experienced yet more delays in completing the required feasibility study about how they're going to raise their $160 million share for the stadium.

Here's todays sports news

And you thought Charmed was just a TV show! You could be forgiven for thinking you'd stepped into an alternate universe where sexy-witchies Piper, Phoebe, and Paige actually still lived in San Francisco with all the Alyssa Milano sightings around town this week. (We all still mourn the untimely death of sister Prue (Shannen Doherty), of course.)

Hey, everyone -- here are the semi-arbitrary Top 5 Comments of the Week. For this, our fourth week of doing it, we thought it'd be a swell idea to try it out in easy-to-access text form. See below for commenters whom SFist's editors thought raised the game, made us laugh, or were otherwise notable, and click through to read the actual comments as written.

Pick your poison -- it's either flyering for Gavin Newsom or going to the Progressive Convention this afternoon. If politics isn't your game, here's some other options for today and tonight:

It's Sunset Magazine's Celebration Weekend! (For some reason, Sunset Magazine sent this event to our sister site Phillyist instead of us, and Phillyist was kind enough to forward it along.) Stop by their "publishing grounds" at 80 Willow Road in Menlo Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a smorsgasbord of Western-lifestyle events, like live music, cooking events with celeb chefs like Paul Bertolli, a home tour, and -- the main reason why we're into this in the first place, sample their newly-created drink, the Sunset-Rita. Is that like SFist Rita?

Because we're not ashamed to admit we actually paid to see NSync live when we were 17, miss Justin's white boy 'fro, and still have the program from that concert somewhere in our parents' house...Because the stars finally aligned, and both Justin Timberlake AND Prince William are single (call us, Willie, we totes fancy you!)...And because we want Justin to dedicate "What Goes Around Comes Around" to Gavin Newsom when JT comes to town in September.

Update: When we originally called this post "Gavin's Rubber, We're Glue," we didn't mean THAT kind of rubber. How the hell did we miss this? Check out the first few seconds of anti-Gavin gumshoe Dan Noyes's ABC 7 video -- what the heck's Gavin doing with that Channel 2 mike?

In honor of SFist Jon's recent karaoke catastrophe caught on tape, we, the arbiters of good taste at SFist, present you with the Backstreet Plastic Bag Boys' brazilliant idea for what to do with all of your old plastic bags. The video starts off a little slow, and kind of uncomfortable, but we were seriously dying when we first saw this. YouTube commenter ChuckNO says it all: "The Guy In the Foot Locker bag is SEXY!"

Yes, that was SFist on CBS 5 last night, hobnobbing with Phil Matier and thanks to SFist Rain, we finally have the clip of it. Watch SFist Jon pretend to be an expert on this newfangled YouTube thing! Thrill to him trying to come up with pithy things to say and fail! Watch his flop sweat!

MattyMatt's bit of cinema verite in regards to Take Your Girlfriend to Work Day seems to be the hottest video in town as Phil Matier (as in Matier & Ross) has designated us as experts in this whole video blogging/YouTube thing. So tune into KPIX Channel 5 sometime around 6:30 (we think) as SFist MattyMatt and SFist Jon appear on TV yet again and play pundit. Extra special bonus: you get to see just how hungover SFist Jon is today and find out what embarrassing thing he did over the weekend that he hopes never, ever appears anywhere online.

--Left in SF asks progressives to play nice in the Migden-Leno race. Hilariously, Chris Daly refuses, twice.

Austinist gets arty with an interactive guide to SXSW, loved some local art galleries and a new art exhibit and lamented the possible loss of "Friday Night Lights" production to New Mexico.

--Yahoo's Jerry Yang is donating $75 million to Stanford. Does that mean he'll get fewer calls from the alumni giving committee.... or more?

First off. Alcoholism is a serious problem and we hope Gavin Newsom (.pdf) gets help and support.

Between fake terrorist alerts and scandals big and small, this just might be the Best Best of the -ists ever. We're exhausted just thinking about it. First up, SFist, who saw their little 'ole site be the center of what was a nice little scandal (even getting their editor on TV) only to find their scandal dwarfed by the even bigger scandal caused by their Mayor boffing one of his aides' wife. We're not just tooting our horn when we say we think SFist summed up the whole thing better than anyone: Holy Crap!!!!!

event where people show up in chicken suits and just look what happens! Did SFist really get name-checked at the Board of Supervisors' meeting yesterday????

SFist Jon's plastic bag story from last week prompted such a good exchange in the comments section, we thought we'd expand on them in a post. The mantra "reduce/reuse/recycle" is something many of us in San Francisco already practice, but as consumers, we need to pull more weight in the effort to make San Francisco "greener." Please feel free to add your ideas and feedback in the comments.

We don't know about you, but it's friggin cold out there. Well, not for some of you. It seems as though places that are supposed to be cold are warm and places that are supposed to be warm are cold. Or maybe that's just us. Either way, we're freezing.

Happy New Year everyone!

]. Since the Golden Gate Bridge is run by a separate entity, it'll stay the same at $5 (unless, of course, you're affiliated with Code Pink, in which case you probably can't even drive across the bridge anymore).

From the Starbucks (not really a) bomber in January to the opening of the Daiso in December, it was certainly one heck of a year, wasn't it?

Phillyist co-editor Star C. Foster, passed away early in the week. Her wit, intelligence, and good nature shone through the site, making Phillyist an immensely fun read. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

SFist Jon and SFist Chris went to last night's Wolfmother show at the Fillmore. Opening up for them was Live 105 fave Silversun Pickups and some other band we'll get to. Thus explaining SFist's hangover today. Instead of doing a full on review, we thought we'd let SFist Jon and SFist Chris discuss the concert, that is what they can remember of it. And you know what this means? A whole post in first person!
