Wow, one show on Monday and twelve on Friday. This week we definitely start off a bit slow, but by the end of the week, we have a ton of choices. Wednesday, there is the sold-out Ingrid Michaelson show that had to be moved from Cafe du Nord to Slim's because apparently everyone is into "librarian chic" right now. Though it's sold-out, you can still find tickets on craigslist; the prices aren't too inflated, yet.......

-- Aimee Mann's Second Annual Christmas Show: Paul F. Tompkins, Sean Hayes, Chuck Prophet, and Morgan Murphy join the delightfully blond songstress for a night of holiday warm fuzzies. Because X-Mas is coming and there's no way around it, come catch this wonderful singer/songwriter during the, um, recording-a-holiday-album period of her career. Show starts at 8 p.m. at Bimbo's 365; $35.50. -- Margot at the Wedding: Fantastic movie. Just great. And whatever. It totally......

We don't say this lightly, because there are really a lot of great artists coming out of the Bay Area, but we do have a current favorite: Birds & Batteries. Festivities include a smattering of DJs, live bands, including Sean Hayes and Felonius, visuals by Stephen Williams, and outdoor movies from local filmmakers and organizations courtesy of teacherwiththebus.com. RSVP is strongly encouraged, plus bring a coat......

So many of our favorite artists are coming to town this week, including John Vanderslice, Feist, Orenda Fink and Metric. There are also some strange celebrity bands coming through, the SF Jazz Festival is happening, and giveaways are back! San Francisco's own pride and joy John Vanderslice [read the SFist interview] recently released his fifth full length record in as many years -- let's hear it for that indie rock work ethic! He's also working......

For some reason, we don’t know how or why this hasn’t spread throughout our fair city and what Uncle Grambo calls the Internerd, but last night, we were graced by the presence of the one, the only, Paris Hilton. WE KNOW. And what was she doing here? Trying to skulk off with our hunky and broken-hearted poetic muse of a Mayor? Nope. She was here to attend all the hoopla involved in the gala opening......
