There’s a few show biz types who just appeared for the first time on this year’s annual Forbes billionaire list, like Bruce Sprinsteen, Jerry Seinfeld, and the former ‘Governator,’ Arnold Schwarzenegger.

For the 39th year in a row, Forbes just published its annual World’s Billionaires List. And as a sign of the times, there are more billionaires alive than ever (more than 3,000 people), while most people in non-billionaire society just saw their retirements wiped out. The top of the list is fairly predictable, with the usual suspects like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos.

But there are a couple of surprises at the very bottom of the list, among people who just squeaked their way into billionaire status this year. These include singer Bruce Sprinsteen, rerun mogul Jerry Seinfeld, and according to KTVU, movie star and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  

Per Forbes, Schwarzenegger’s fortune grew to barely-billionaire status ($1.1 billion net worth) thanks to they royalties from his more than 50 films, plus that he “also invested in commercial real estate, private equity and the stock market.”  

We remember being absolutely mortified when Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California in 2003, as a result of the Gray Davis recall. And he was no friend during the same-sex marriage debates of the late 2000s. While Schwarzenegger has curried some favor in recent years as a prominent Trump critic, we should not forget that he hid his son born out of wedlock in 2003, validating every womanizing story the press ever chased him about, and probably falsified so many records that he should have been prosecuted.  

Either way, Schwarzenegger is now a member of the billionaire's club. So Ahh-nold fans will want to check that list again next year, to see if… he’ll be back.

The same day that the world learned that her husband the former Governator had fathered a child with an employee, Maria Shriver hopped over to Chicago to appear on one of Oprah Winfrey's last shows, in blue sequins. The appearance was clearly scheduled long before Shriver knew her husband's philandering was going to be a huge national headline yesterday, and as the AP reports, the topic didn't really come up.

Shriver came on stage at the United Center with Winfrey's best friend, Gayle King. Shriver told Winfrey that the talk show host has "given me love, support, wisdom and most of all the truth." Shriver said she knew she wasn't "alone in receiving those gifts."... Shriver told Winfrey that the talk show host "believed in others so they could believe in themselves."

We imagine Oprah was biting her tongue hard to keep from being like, "Maria, I'm sorry, we need to talk about this love child, girl."

In related news, TMZ has obtained information and photos of the boy Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered out of wedlock. He supposed looks "shockingly like" his father, even though the images are pixilated.

After news broke today that Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered a child with a household employee in 2003, which prompted the break up for his and Maria Shriver's marriage, the former California Governor's 17-year-old son, Patrick, announced that he changed his last name to Shriver. The Schwarzenegger's third child went on to send out the following Twitter message, "Some days you feel like shit, some days you want to quit and just be normal for a bit, yet i love my family till death do us apart."

That's just...depressing. Poor guy.

Katherine Schwarzenegger, the couple's oldest child, sent out the following message a few hours later, "This is definitely not easy but I appreciate your love and support as i begin to heal and move forward in life. I will always love my family!"

In a bold move to stem the inappropriate use of state welfare funds, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has issued a letter to county welfare directors that state-issued welfare debit cards will no longer work in psychic parlors, tattoo parlors, pot dispensaries, bail bond establishments, or bingo halls. He says these uses of the funds are "inconsistent with the intent" of the welfare program (no!), and that ATMs and point-of-sale systems in these establishments will be removed from the roster of places the cards can be used. This follows on a similar recent ban on the use of the welfare cards in casinos.

You hear that, poor people? You will need to hit the ATM outside the psychic parlor from now on.

In an "extraordinary" court filing today, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger asked for same-sex marriage to be "allowed to resume immediately in California after a federal ruling that the state's voter-approved ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional," reports Sacto Bee.

"The Administration believes the public interest is best served by permitting the Court's judgment to go into effect, thereby restoring the right of same-sex couples to marry in California," said Kenneth C. Mennemeier, an attorney representing Schwarzenegger. "Doing so is consistent with California's long history of treating all people and their relationships with equal dignity and respect."

While Schwarzenegger was named as a defendant in the Prop 8 lawsuit, the Republican governor has been vocal about his opposition to the civil rights-extinguishing initiative.

In a historic move, Federal Judge Vaughn Walker overturned Proposition 8, California's same-sex marriage man, which ":violates the equal protection and due process rights of gays and lesbians." Prop 8 passed with 52 percent of the vote in November 2008. Since Wednesday's announcement, Walker's decision has been derided by many, most notably in two "open" editorials in SF Chronicle (both parodied on SF Appeal) and by anti-gay political columnist Debra Saunders.

After laying off 200,000 state workers in June, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger revisited the policy, which will go into effect on Sunday. While the much-loathed Republican governor's order "requires employees take three unpaid days off per month," it has no termination date. "Furloughs will end when lawmakers pass a 2010-11 budget," which could be "weeks or months" after the Legislature meets on Monday. [Sacto Bee]

In effort to "deter drug trafficking and illegal immigration along the border with Mexico," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ordered up a large serving of National Guard troops (224 Guard members, to be exact) to oversee the Mexico-California line. CBS 5 reports, "His order on Friday supports President Barack Obama's plan to have 1,200 National Guard troops support federal border protection, customs and immigration agents." The last time Schwarzenegger sent National Guard troops to the border was back in 2006. This comes on the heels of Arizona cracking down on illegal immigration.

Sacramento Bee reports that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger "withdrew his support Monday for a controversial new offshore oil drilling project off the Santa Barbara coast in the wake of a massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico." The Tranquillon Ridge project, which was one of Schwarzenegger's preferred way "to raise money for California's strapped budget," proved too great a risk. "[I] I have a choice between the $100 million and what I see in the Gulf of Mexico, I'd rather just figure out how to make up for that $100 million," chirped Arnold. [via Sacto Bee]

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday said the national health care plan could cost California billions. Gubernatorial hopeful and current Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner also chimed in with similar sentiments, followed by his Republican opponent Meg Whitman. And so are the three Republicans seeking to replace Senator Barbara Boxer in the November election.

But if California is going to officially challenge Obama and congress on the landmark legislation, Republicans are going to have to get through to Attorney General Jerry Brown, who is also running for Governor.

"Thirteen attorneys general, all but one are Republican, are rushing to kill the federal health care bill by filing lawsuits alleging that the bill violates states' rights," he said in a statement on Tuesday. "Here in California, a handful of Republican leaders have followed suit and are asking that I join in. Accordingly, I've instructed deputies in my office to carefully review these claims in light of applicable constitutional principles. Health care is not the place, with people's lives at stake, to engage in poisonous partisanship. At this critical time in our nation's history, we need to come together to forge a common purpose."

Possibly suffering from senioritis, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger confused Sen. Barbara Boxer with Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Oops.

"California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger left a meeting this morning at the Capitol with Sen. Barbara Boxer repeatedly referring to his productive and amicable discussions with 'Sen. Feinstein,'" reports Carolyn Lochhead.

That's almost as bad as confusing Diet Coke for Diet Pepsi or, say, Supe. Eric Mar for Supe. David Chiu. Better luck next time, Arnold.
