A little after 6 a.m. this morning a curious sack was found sitting alone on a train, which then lead to a montage sequence of bomb-sniffing dogs wrongly smelling something wrong, the bomb squad officers investigating, riders being shooed away, the station shutting down, and then re-opening just before 9 a.m. Luckily, no explosives were found. It seems that we had not one, but two bomb scares yesterday.

First, bomb no. 1: after stopping a car for a routine traffic violation in San Jose, police found and disarmed an explosive device in the car.

Then, bomb no. 2: making the sharp move of going to said driver's home (near the intersection of Burr Avenue and Boone Drive) to see if (s)he had more ka-boom-y devices, they found a second one, which was detonated.

Police "sealed the neighborhood and evacuated 25 to 40 homes." Although authorities would not name a suspect -- who was arrested and taken to jail right away, it seems -- police also had John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont put on lockdown, and had parents called to pick up their children. later, the Red Cross used the school as temporary shelter for residents who had no home for the night due to the bomb scare(s). Residents returned home a little after 4 a.m. this morning.
