Dyke on Bikes -- the women who kickoff the annual Pride Parades and Dyke March by riding on their mechanical clitorises, with mammary glands fluttering to and fro -- have won the right to their name. Kudos! No longer having to go by the KRON 4-safe and vulgarly-clinical “San Francisco Women's Motorcycle Contingent,” the ladies who love ladies took steps at owning their name after discovering another group in Wisconsin already in the process of registering the same name for a clothing label (which would've been available at your nearest Ross or Mervyns, we sure.)

Comics 4 Comix: Have you ever been to the Cartoon Art Museum? Neither have we. Head there tonight for a great cause. An overlooked gem in San Francisco, the Cartoon Art Museum is having its annual fundraiser and silent art auction, starting tonight at 7 pm. Come bid on original comic strip art from both local and national cartoonists, including including Dan Piraro (Bizarro), Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows), Phil Frank (Farley), Lalo Alcaraz (La Cucaracha), and Lynn Johnston (For Better or For Worse). On the stage will be a slew of stand-up comics, including Michael Meehan and Kurt Weitzman. Thirsty Bear and True Sake provide the libations and Rainbow, Whole Foods, and Canton Dim Sum are among the suppliers of snacks. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds go to the museum. To live in the Bay Area is (frequently) to be able to count more than one aspiring filmmaker in one's circle of acquaintance. The next time you're at some dinner party/Zeitgeist get-together/orgy at the Power Exchange and someone starts blabbing on about their unfulfilled creative vision, remind them of the opportunities available to them to get said vision out there to the masses.

Tonight is official Cover Band Night. At Last Day Saloon we have Who Two (they cover CSI theme songs) and Chronic Town, the Bay Area's own R.E.M. cover band. Or, there's Devo cover band Mongoloid, (The Evolution Control Committee) at the 12 Galaxies . Both shows begin at 9, and are sure offer an undergrad flashback for all relevant legally-drinking generations.
