The suspect, Pierre Ragland, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault, carrying a loaded firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. Oops. And the victim was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, and it looks like he's pull through. (And to add insult to injury: "Oh my God, who shot you?" "This guy named Pierre." Ouch.)

A PG&E plant in the process of being torn down collapsed and killed a worker and injured two others today. Earlier this afternoon in an abandoned Pacific Gas and Electric Co. power plant in Bayview-Hunter's Point, workers who had been hired by the utility leviathan to remove the large boiler "had tied cables to the boiler, but it collapsed prematurely, raining debris down upon the workers." The five-story-tall walls of the power plant caved in, killing one and trapping two for over an hour. According to the Gate:

-- On Saturday Friday at around 10:40 p.m., Jan. 26, 24-year-old Ernesto Williams was shot and killed while standing outside his car at the Chevron station at Sixth and Harrison streets. While waiting with his 26-year-old girlfriend, police claim a suspect drove up to the couple, exited his vehicle, and then "approached the victims and started shooting," killing the Oakland man and wounding his female companion. The suspect then "returned to the vehicle and fled the area," driving off in a "drove off in a gold-colored car." Cops have neither suspects nor description of the assailant(s).

Rogers' daughter, Tierra, a junior guard for Sacred Heart's women's basketball team, was pulled from the game and told by officers that her father had been shot.

An elderly woman was struck by an outbound N-Judah this evening around 5:45 p.m. at 9th Avenue and Irving Street. Over at N-Judah Chronicles, fittingly enough, Greg Dewar was downing a pint at Blackthorn Tavern when the collision occurred.

Even with all the nasty weather, this weekend proved to be yet another violent one in San Francisco. For sure. After five shootings took place within a 24-hour time period, two people lost their lives. Let's go to the rewind, folks:

In a Spearsian like maneuver, looking to trump both the recent storm and the Dhaliwal brothers, oil spill made a comeback this morning. It seems that a crane fell off of a san Francisco pier a little before 10 a.m. this morning, spilling "an unknown amount" of oil into the Bay. According to the Gate, "[t]he crane was on a sliding rail system at a dry dock at Pier 70 when it suddenly tilted to one side and fell into the water."

Behold, the tight-lipped duo who, at this point last week, couldn't have imagined the death and subsequent big-cat madness in store for them today. Under supervision at San Francisco General Hospital, due to severe bite and claw wounds since last Monday, Paul Dhaliwal, 19, and Kulbir Dhaliwal, 23, were released into the wild yesterday afternoon.

Dr. John Brown of San Francisco General Hospital told Good Morning America today that the two survivors in yesterday's tiger attack (which killed one) are "doing well at the present time. They have both gone through their surgeries well. They're both in stable condition."

He shot and killed his wife, Stacey Owens, 38; wounded his two-year-old daughter; and then turned the gun on himself (right after "a big Thanksgiving dinner at their home Thursday night.") "I'll pop a cap in your ass," four cowardly teens whined just minutes before 18-year-old Michael Price, Jr. of Oakland was shot inside the Metreon last night after some sort of argument. According to Bay City News, "two separate Friday night shootings that occurred within about an hour of each other sent three men to San Francisco General Hospital." (And it's not even Halloween yet. Jumping the gun a bit, yes?)
