After reading the harrowing tale of the Kim family and how Mrs. Kim kept her children alive by breastfeeding them, we feel a bit blasé about all these fine food and cocktail party charitable events tonight. But since we are fortunate enough to not be in a life-or-death struggle for survival ...
First, the excitement of the election, and now the excitement of a (for many people) three day weekend.
Last night we featured the cross bay rivalry of Taste events, and tonight, we've got two art auctions. When we see things like this, we wonder whether the organizers of said events check each others' calendars, as we have learned through painful experience that we can't be everywhere at once. Perhaps an evite is called for in these circumstances.
We can't wait for tonight's San Francisco 3 Minute Film Festival's Black Tie Gala and Film Screening!
June 6 through July 15, Tuesdays through Fridays from 11a.m. to 11p.m., Saturdays from 1-5. Opening reception June 8 from 7-11 p.m.
While we’ve been stuck inside our stuffy apartment in the Tenderloin, nursing a nasty cough amid empty tissue boxes and cartons of Chunky Monkey (hey, we have a sore throat), we’ve started to feel a touch of the cabin fever. Despite our frail and sickly condition, we’re determined to get a little fresh air and check out the following shows starting tonight. We hope to see you there, just don’t stand too close.
Sunday: We're having Lucky Charms drenched in green beer for breakfast, as it's time for the 154th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade! The parade starts at 11:30 at Market and Second, and runs all the way down to City Hall, and the Civic Center celebration (food, bands, the usual) begins at 10 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m.
Saturday: So much to do! Berkeley's Impact Theatre's kicked ass, and we can't wait to see what they do with the Greatest Dane.
In our continuing search for cool stuff to buy for holiday gifts, we can't wait to hit Root Division's Holiday Art Show and Sale. Head over to Root Division (3175 17th at South Van Ness) Saturday any time between 11a.m. to 11p.m. to pick up works from local emerging artists -- perfect fodder for gifts, or to keep!
Even after a couple of small technical glitches delayed the Saturday night start a little bit, The San Francisco 3-Minute Film Festival still managed to go off without a hitch (which is good, because that Will Smith/Kevin James movie was terrible, and way over 3 minutes).
The San Francisco 3 Minute Film Festival goes down this Saturday at Root Division (17th and South VanNess) with doors opening at 7:00. Being a big believer in the tried and tested theory that no matter how awful something is, anyone can put up with it for 3 minutes, we here at SFist will definitely be checking it out. After all, the next Michael Bay has to come from somewhere, right?
