Photo credit: Rilo Kiley's Website We have some exciting news! We're offering two free tickets to Rilo Kiley's Thursday night performance at Concourse at SF Design Center. Now, here's some even more exciting news: Kanye West and Rihanna will be performing at the HP Pavilion on Saturday night. With Rihanna's summer blockbuster hit, "Umbrella," she finally created a "Hit Me Baby, One More Time." Instead of the standard sexy school-girl outfit, Rihanna dawned on......

It's going to be a grand ole party (sorry, we had too...) over at Bottom of the Hill on Sunday night where Grand Ole Party will be headlining. They just finished a very successful tour with Rilo Kiley and Vampire Weekend and are celebrating the physical release of their debut album, Humanimals (which came out earlier this month). Check out three of their recently recorded songs over at Daytrotter; it's pretty damn cool. Hailing......

Never having been huge fans of instrumental music, we were taken by surprise when we listened to Maserati's latest record Inventions For The New Season. Their own entertaining bio describes the music as a "post-psychedelic orgy of hooks molesting the tired cliche of math-prog" and/or "a post-disco drone machine bristling with the buzz-saw sound of 1,000 angry square waves nestled on a California king size bed of shoegaze swirl." We like to think of the......

Last week's winner, Bay Guardian: Craigslist is destroying the fabric of America. We love this new news shorts column: Daly! Mocking Jordana Thigpen. Tim Goodman the TV critic was on Nancy Grace the other day? About the murder rate? Was this an interview about Nash Bridges? British grocery stores. Cover article: indie boy and Mission resident Kelley Stoltz. Rilo Kiley overhype begins. Hey Trimethldioxypurist, check out this article on the French-press Starbucks challenge! Indiefest! Color a Curious George to win a family four-pack to see the movie. And SFist Eve's horoscope: recognize your own inner strength and don't be distractible (hey! look over there!)
The SF Weekly: Cover article: Rilo Kiley overhype! Matt Smith on the central subway plan. PUNI suggests a "Folsom St. Prison Fair." Ha! In what was clearly going to be the cover article until the Rilo Kiley overhype began, an SF group producing radio shows for Nepal. Hey, the guy who produces the Daily Show is coming to town. Ced on Meredith. ...and oh no! Music columnist OK Then is leaving the Weekly too! What in the Tom Walsh is going on over there?
After the jump: the East Bay Express and the Metro. ...

We are big fans of Feist, the Canadian chanteuse with an esteemed indie pedigree and smooth, seductive, award-winning sound. She's quite popular throughout the blogosphere, even though her internationally acclaimed record Let It Die just saw its US release in late April. So sending us to see her open for Rilo Kiley was basically preaching to the converted. Unfortunately, we're not sure how many new converts she won over at The Grand Ballroom on Saturday......

How did we miss this last week? Mixing two offenses recently made popular by Minnie Driver (actors playing the role of "earnest singer-songwriter") and Shawn Colvin (artists appearing on "Oprah" to divulge details about personal struggles in the same week their new CD comes out), Robert Downey Jr. came out with his debut album The Futurist last Tuesday. That was the same day of his "Oprah" appearance, for anyone who's counting. Music is all......
