As of now, the Ultimate Cheeseburger hawker waits to reclaim their 24-hours status—something far too rare in San Francisco these days. The man who allegedly and intentionally mowed down a former Marine and Cal Fire firefighter was arrested on Wednesday morning. The suspect's name is Eduardo Shaparo Esquivel, 22, and he hails from South San Francisco. If you recall, Esquivel got into a physical altercation with Albert Bartal, 29, at a Jack in the Box at 11th Avenue and Geary Boulevard on Thanksgiving. more ›

Out in the avenues, a 100-year-old sewer line beneath 15th Ave. collapsed before 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, opening up a sinkhole large enough to swallow a lost softball or small pet. SFPUC crews working in the area quickly closed off the street to traffic between Geary and Clement street, making sure no one fell in by securing the two-foot diameter sinkhole with one of those orange-and-white caution markers. According to the Chronicle, "a 42-year-old man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was shot near the corner of 23rd Avenue and Anza Street at about 9 p.m. Wednesday." He died at the scene. The suspect(s) allegedly escaped in a black Mercedes. No arrests have been made. [Chron] more ›

After a morning fire inside a kitchen in a Richmond district home, an elderly man is dead. The Chronicle reports, "The man, whose name has not been released, was found at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday in the kitchen of the home at 706 17th Ave." The blaze remains under investigation. more ›
