Jumbacos Prevail: Richmond District Jack In The Box Approved For Late-Night Food

When last we checked in at the with the problematic Jack in the Box in the Richmond, the twofer taco joint had lost it's 24-hour privileges after a drunken altercation at the restaurant ended in an intentional hit-run incident nearby. The neighbors protested, as they do, but the franchisee went right ahead and asked the Entertainment Commission to reinstate their permit to sling cheeseburgers after 2 a.m. Finally, after putting it to a vote at last night's meeting, the Entertainment Commission did just that. more ›

Out in the avenues, a 100-year-old sewer line beneath 15th Ave. collapsed before 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, opening up a sinkhole large enough to swallow a lost softball or small pet. SFPUC crews working in the area quickly closed off the street to traffic between Geary and Clement street, making sure no one fell in by securing the two-foot diameter sinkhole with one of those orange-and-white caution markers. No vehicles parked on the street were consumed by the earth after it rejected mankind's subterranean intrusion. more ›
