Today, C.W. Nevius (sort of) suggests jail time for hoodlums caught tagging or performing other acts of artistic expression via vandalism. Because graffiti in San Francisco is getting worse. (Or better, depending on how you look at it.)

It looks like the Justice Center, Gavin Newsom's quality-of-life pet project, will, in fact, get the chance to bust people for public urination, aggressive panhandling, and open-air drug use. Supervisor Chris Daly's attempt to get $1 million pulled from the project -- money that could've been reassigned "to shore up the newly gutted Department of Public Health," suggests Curbed -- which "won" in a 6-4 Board vote yesterday, needed 8 votes to win. Alas. The Polk Street courtroom is scheduled to open early next year.
Supervisor Chis Daly went on the defense against Mayor Gavin Newsom's quality-of-life pipedream at yesterday's Board of Supervisors meeting. Daly introduced legislation that would yank funding from Newsom's Community Justice Center and put it back into city's main spending account.
We saw “Quality of Life” at ACT the other night and can’t recommend it highly enough. The star-studded cast members each give exceptionally compelling performances. The play’s approach to contemporary themes involving belief, love, and death manages to make each perspective valid--- our head was reeling when we left the theater. Jane Anderson, a Bay Area native, wrote and directed the play. We caught up with her the other day, and the results are below. We love her take on what makes the Bay Area so innovative and unique. Hmm. Interesting.
