--Gavin Newsom had another Project Homeless Connect event. Reader Elihuh2001 sends along this picture, along with the note that Gavin refused the free coffee provided, in favor of a more corporate flair.

So earlier today, we heard that Alex Tourk resigned as Gavin's campaign manager. It was a bit curious, a bit odd, but these things happen, although whenever somebody mentions that they are leaving for "personal reasons" the mind does tend to go to certain places. But no matter where your mind wandered, we have a feeling it didn't wander as far as what really happened because the Chron is reporting that Tourk quit mainly because Gavin had an affair with Tourk's wife, Ruby Rippey-Tourk. Rippey-Tourk (and woah, what a name) was Gavin's appointments secretary at the time.

Sulky, sulky -- Gavin Newsom was sober and mad after yesterday's Board of Supervisors inaugural ceremony, which the Chronicle tactfully described as having a "tone of political contentiousness running just beneath a veneer of polite ceremony."

The Chron revived its semi-regular profile of life on the streets with a three-part series (which concluded yesterday) about how things are looking for the San Francisco homeless population after the implementation of Newsom's Care Not Cash program. Answer: definitely at least some good, maybe part bad, but we can't really tell either way because we have no way of measuring success or failure.

Yes, that's our fair mayor washing the feet of a constituent at yesterday's Project Homeless Connect outreach event. Hundreds of volunteers and the homeless they aim to help were on hand to provide medical, counseling and housing services. The San Francisco Sentinel has more coverage up today on their homepage with great pictures from Luke Thomas. As tipster Kimo pointed out, "Whatever you think of Gavin – nice symbolism – I can’t imagine Brown in the same pose." Of course, what we're thinking is: "That hair is unstoppable!"

In a press release from the California Culinary Academy we received today, the executive chefs and students at the CCA will be serving 1,000 lunches to the local homeless at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium tomorrow as part of Gavin's Project Homeless Connect, which strives to bring city services and volunteers directly to the local homeless population. From the release:

When the Guardian did their piece on the "New Bay," as coined by the EA-Ski-produced Frontline, maybe they didn't quite get it right. Does "New Bay" refer to a resurgence in local hip-hoppers getting record label contracts, or is that "New Bay" an allusion to G-New, AKA Da Mayor?
