19-year-old athlete Misha Dawood was on her way to the sixth annual National Women's Football Championship in Islamabad when she became one of 152 people killed in that Airblue plane crash in Pakistan last week. Dawood was a sophomore at U.C. Berkeley, a member of the Diya Football Club, and a member of the light crew team. Despite studying abroad in the U.S., Misha had flown back to Pakistan to help her team win the championship. The team would go on to win on Thursday, and dedicated its victory to Misha.

Small Plane Crash Results in Three Deaths
Early this morning, a small Cessna plane crashed into two homes in East Palo Alto. All three people inside he plane were killed.
Plane Crashes In Napa
A small prop plane bound for Bakersfield, a Cessna 182 to be exact, crashed shortly after takeoff from Napa County Airport this morning at around 4:30 a.m. The pilot, who was the only person aboard, was killed. That is all.
NorCal Plane Crashes, Kills 14
Taking off from Oroville, CA (about 20 or so miles from Chico), a single-engine private passenger plane traveling to a ski trip crash crashed over the weekend, killing all 14 passengers. The plane went down in a fiery blaze into a cemetery in Butte, Montana. According to Reuters, "the plane was carrying a group of young children on their way to a ski vacation in Bozeman, Montana." KCBS confirmed that a St. Helena family was died on that flight. Dr. Erin Jacobson, his wife, and three children (ages 2, 3, and 4), went down with the plane. Jacobson worked at the Eye Car Center of Napa Valley.

Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the man who is credited with saving the lives of 155 passengers when he deftly landed U.S. Airways Flight 1549 into the Hudson River, is coming home on Saturday. And since he's being hailed a hero, a hero's welcome he will get.

SF Citizen has a glowing review of local pilot Chesley Sullenberger, who is being branded a hero after keeping Flight 1549 afloat long enough for all passengers to get out before it sank. Yesterday, if you recall, an Airbus 320 dived into the Hudson River just after takeoff. Remarkably, no lives were lost. Birds, sadly, are being blamed for the near disaster. Two Survivors Found Mounted on Plane Wreckage in the Bay
This morning at around 11:30 a.m., two people were seen standing on top of a single-engine A35 plane that crashed into SF Bay. The plane went down near (and, thankfully, not into) the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge. As of now the extent of the victims' injuries are unknown, but seeing as how they managed to climb atop the wreckage, we're going to say that they're fine, or at least very, very tough.
