Eat Here Tonight: $1 Pizza At Credo

Eat Here Tonight: $1 Pizza At Credo

You know where you should not eat tonight? Anywhere near AT&T Park, that's where. Season-opener fans at or anywhere near the park are just the worst. The WORST. Granted, we shouldn't complain; they're not Phillies fans or, far worse, Dodgers fans. Still, not the warmest climate in Mission Bay-South Park if, say, you happen to have a penis and sashay down the street. (More on that later today.) And with that, we point your attention to the other side of Market Street at Credo where you can grab a $0.99 pizza with the purchase of any glass of wine or cocktail from 2:30pm-6:30pm. Deal lasts until Friday. more ›

Bay Area Chuck E. Cheese's Allowed Children To Take Out Trash, Make Pizza Dough

Just when you thought the animatronic nightmares at Chuck E. Cheese's could not possibly torture children any more than they already do, the LA Times has to go and blow the lid off of a story about the popular birthday restaurant's child labor law violations. more ›

Video: Herman Cain Sings Song About Pizza

Video: Herman Cain Sings Song About Pizza

Republican presidential candidate and former Godfather's Pizza CO Herman Cain made headlines last week after becoming the GOP frontrunner for 2012. At last according to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, anyway. Now he's making headlines for an even more critical issue: this video in which he croons an ode to pizza. Think of a Weird Al Yankovich parody of John Lennon's "Imagine"... only a thousand times better. Also, his voice? Not half bad. Check it out: more ›

Pizza Orgasmica Exterior Color Too Loud For Marin

Pizza Orgasmica Exterior Color Too Loud For Marin

Pizza Orgasmica opened a new shop in San Rafael recently. In an ode to Brazil's soccer team, they used garish yellow and green paint for the exterior. This, it seems, didn't sit well with Marin's tender aesthetic sensibilities. "The board on Wednesday asked city planners to work with Pizza Orgasmica & Brewing Co. owners Taylor Maia and Gina Gochez on a plan to soften the yellow and green tones, reduce the paint's reflectivity, improve its finish and restore the building's accents," reports Marin Independent Journal. "It also suggested adding a third paint color to the front and limiting the use of bright yellow in the rear." Well then. more ›

Tony's Pizza Napoletana's Ed Hardy Pizza Boxes

Before you nut all over the place, let's get something straight: the real Ed Hardy, from what we hear, is a super cool guy. So cool, in fact, he would never refer to anybody as "super cool." What we mean is that he's not personally responsible for the adoption of his work by the Massengill set. more ›

Steve Jobs Eats Pizza In the Mission

Steve Jobs Eats Pizza In the Mission

San Francisco's elite Mission District proved that more insufferable over the weekend after Apple CEO Steve Jobs, along with his entourage and his self-consciously Silicon Valleyesque costume, walked away from Flour + Water because he couldn't get a table. (The food there is excellent, hence the wait.) more ›

It's Official: Flour + Water Is a Smash

It's Official: Flour + Water Is a Smash

SF Chronicle food critic Michael Bauer swoons over the Mission's newest pizza joint, Flour + Water, located at 2401 Harrison. Bauer beams, "Made third visit to Flour+Water ; tastes as if they've been making pizza for years. Perfecto! Review to come in a couple weeks." Now for the bad news: SFist called Flour + Water to see if we could swing by to grab a slice or four for lunch. No such luck. "We don't serve pizza by the slice or to-go," the sympathetic F + W employee explained. Alas, select Mission residents, this new artisan world just isn't big enough for you. more ›

Manhunt for Sunset Pizza Shooter

Manhunt for Sunset Pizza Shooter

The shooting that claimed the lives of two men on Saturday--Daly City resident Jason de la Cruz, 31, and San Francisco resident Derek Butch, 23--was all due to a squabble over free food at Irving Pizza, it seems. Del la Cruz, at right, father of three and a successful Verizon Wireless store manger, was taking his employees out to show "his appreciation for a successful sales month." Jason offered up free pizza to his sales team, heated words were exchanged with a "drunk" customer who wanted in on the pizza bounty de la Cruz was handing out, and then later that night, De la Cruz and Butch were shot and killed a few blocks away. more ›

Late-Night Pizza Ban? That's Crazy Talk!

Late-Night Pizza Ban? That's Crazy Talk!

In North Beach fights breakout and mild vandalism occurs after bars close at 2 a.m. This chaos, typical for any city, makes some of our sensitive city dwellers cranky before bedtime. Or whatever. So, the City Planning Commissioners somehow got it into their heads that closing pizza parlors on the the Broadway strip, pizzerias that normally stay open until 3 a.m. or 4 a.m., before 2 a.m. will solve a slew of problems. According to the Examiner: more ›

Pizza Delivery Gone Wrong

Pizza Delivery Gone Wrong

There's been so many murders lately that it's hard to find a new twist on the stories, so here's one: a Pizza Hut pizza delivery man was shot and killed in the Richmond last night as he was trying to deliver a pizza. Apparently, he got lost and was wandering around trying to find the house he was supposed to deliver the pizza too and when he was stopped by several men trying to rob him. When he tried to run away, he was shot in the back, something that anyone who has ever seen a Western knows is the coward's way. more ›

Week Around the -Ists

Seattlest watches as a S.L.U.T. is born and Seattle Flickr users go nuts over a local art installation. A restaurant critic demands a Diner's Bill of Rights over a gnat next to her drink, and, in lieu of a Portlandist, Seattlest debates with itself over the identity of the Northwest's crown jewel. Seattlest also joins the guys from Fantagraphics for an ill-fated gun party in the woods. more ›

3 Questions For A San Franciscan

3 Questions For A San Franciscan

Our recent "3 Questions" subjects have included Megan Marrone, Kevin Rose, Phil Bronstein, and the founders of Yelp -- all pretty darned high-profile people. However, as compelling as we find those folks, our goal with the short-form interview was always to intersperse folks on the street; the folks you meet in your real life, who really are as interesting as, well, anybody. more ›

Blocker: 800 Divisadero

Blocker: 800 Divisadero

A couple blocks south of where Lower Mervyns Heights butts heads with Upper Chopper City, Divisadero’s business-dominated stretch begins to take shape. There’s a little of everything on this block between McAllister and Fulton, from the throwback corner diner, to the auto body shop, to the bar whose front window announces a list of “rules” to be obeyed. There’s also the Muslim center and the tattoo parlor. Even the pair of pizza places on the east side of the street take divergent approaches. The block’s eclecticism doesn’t seem to bother anyone early on this Sunday evening. The pies at sit-down place Little Star Pizza (deep dish or thin crust – you choose) look to be as popular as any in town tonight, while down the sidewalk at quick-service Stelladoro, police officers and less-armed customers quickly nip in and out for cut-rate slices. A door or two away, at the corner of Divisadero and Fulton, the sticker-strewn counter at Eddie’s Café appears as if it’s been helping mitigate hangovers with omelets, bacon cheeseburgers, greens, and grits for decades. more ›

Treasure Hunt: Bringing in the Dough

Treasure Hunt: Bringing in the Dough

It's not an exaggeration to say that some families are held together by dough. Our grandmother for instance, used to bake scrumptious apple tarts to lure her philandering husband back home. It seems however, that the dough-kneading gene did not make it to our batch of DNA. So we 're always on the lookout for some good ready-made. Despite its strong following, we felt completely let down by Trader Joe's 99-cent whole-wheat dough: once rolled, we could not get it to remain stretched. In fact, its ability to retract to the touch reminded us of garden snails when you poke their soft parts. Fortunately there is the onomatopoeic Patxi's Chicago Pizza. more ›
