Compelling television's loss is the bargain bin's gain. KRON 4 is up for sale. Again. Amid a "high level of interest," it seems, Young Broadcasting plans on possibly peddling the network to the highest bidder. KRON 4, once the golden child as the Bay Area's NBC affiliate, was sold eight years ago and turned into an independent station. After seeing much of the KRON 4 news team jump ship - like Pete Wilson (RIP), Wendy Tokuda, and wet dream-inducing Ross Palumbo - the place was renovated into the Fox News Corp's MyNetwork TV. Ta-da. We just heard on KGO newstalk 810 that Pete Wilson, the local channel 7 news anchor and afternoon talkshow host, died last night from complications in what was thought to be a routine surgery (hip replacement). Ever-vigilant SFist reader Robert Haaland tipped us off today to KGO talker Pete Wilson (not to be confused with the former governor, or the Canadian pro wrestler) pointing some love-related criticism at local gaydad Bevan Dufty and lesbimom Rebecca Goldfader. According to Pete (the radio guy, not the former Treasurer of the Kensington and Chelsea Conservative Association), Bevan and Rebecca have done their new son [UPDATE: and by "son," of course," what we really mean is "daughter"] a disservice by not being properly in love (they are apparantly "cavalier" and "careless" parents). The two are very close long-time friends, and they intend to raise young Sidney together, while living in the same house, and while taking close care of each other, but without actually marrying each other. more ›

You know how after the Very Special Election Governor Arnie was saying he got the message loud and clear and was going back to being a centrist and ixnaying the hard-core conservatism? It looks like he's actually doing it. It's all out with the old and in with the new. This week he got rid of his previous Chief of Staff, a Republican, and brought in one of Gray Davis' old aides, Susan Kennedy. The move has gotten conservative's panties all in a bunch. Not necessarily because Kennedy is an old Davis aide, but because she's been actively involved in abortion rights causes. And is lesbian who married her longtime partner. Yep, the Governor just put his administration in the hands of an abortion-loving lesbian and we know how much the Republican Party loves them. more ›
