We don't know about you, but we're seriously looking forward to the July 10 release of Bruno, the latest Sacha Baron Cohen mockumentary about a gay Austrian fashion correspondent creating Borat-like confusion around the U.S. And yes, there's been a huge PR blitz in recent weeks, but we don't care. In the news this week (besides that whole episode with Eminem at the MTV Movie Awards), was Paula Abdul showing up on Letterman doing pre-movie-release damage control after she, too, got hoodwinked into appearing in the film -- all while seated on the backs of two Mexican laborers. The full trailer for the movie, after the jump.
Paula Abdul Punked by Sacha Baron Cohen
You Can Still Help Make AT&T Park the Bestest Ever
Just a reminder that our Help Make AT&T Park the Bestest Ever contest is still going on. Our crack judges (Paula Abdul, Jim Lehrer, and us) will weigh in next Wednesday to announce the winner so you still have about five shopping days left until the contest is over.
SFist Watches: A Mess
By now, you must have heard about Paula Abdul's drunk? stoned? stroke-induced? appearance on some morning news shows. We've seen the Seattle show a few times, but didn't actually get to catch her appearance on local channel KTVU until today. And it's pretty awesome. Especially Ross McGowan's realization at the end that Abdul may be completely nuts. You can watch it below. (At least until KTVU orders it taken down, in which case you might be able to watch it on their site, although we couldn't get the video to work.)
Political JunkiEE
If you think the Ma v. Ja race is content-free, you should try the State Senate District 8 race between Leland Yee and Mike Nevin. Yawn, unless you like trying to figure out the byzantine nature of state politics personal relationships. (i.e., why didn't Gavin Newsom endorse San Franciscan Yee over San Mateo County's Nevin? Does it have something to do with the mysterious feud between Fiona and Leland?)
Catching Up With Barry
There's some actual baseball news a-happenin' here in the Fog City, our favorite kind too-- Barry news. First up is news that Barry is going to star in his own reality show. The show, which will air on ESPN, will have twenty-five Giants fans living in Bonds' gym and competing for his affections in order to win the next historic baseball that Barry hits for a home run. Actually the show will follow him throughout the season and will air once a week. Last year ESPN assigned a reporter, Pedro Gomez, to follow Bonds throughout the season only to have him mainly twiddle his thumbs as Barry sat out with his various knee injuries. Guess ESPN didn't learn their lesson.
