You guys are THE BEST. Thanks for all the great pictures of today's Ed Jew rally outside City Hall! We can't find any coverage of it online yet, but your reports to us say that it was a media circus, and moderately-well-attended by pro Ed Jew folks. Joe O'Donoghue seems to have gotten over his whole "pregnancy brain" thing with Amy Lee enough to give a stemwinder of a speech, accusing various other elected......

Guess Lumpy's not doing it after all -- Pat Murphy, the guy who came up with the catch phrase "Do It, Lumpy" to goad local progressive ringleader and District 6 Supervisor Chris Daly into running for mayor in the first place, has posted a press release from Camp Daly. Contrary to Chris's prior bold statements that he'd jump in the race if no one else did, Daly now says: Family is the most important......

In the taunting words of non-progressive Pat Murphy: do it, Lumpy! We stopped by the Progressive Convention where basically, on a schedule running about 90 minutes behind, everyone who's anyone in local politics stopped by and, after some exciting build-up in the form of a campaign speech by Ross Mirkarimi..... -- no one ended up deciding to run against Gavin Newsom. As Calitics puts it: Exasperating. Afterwards, a fellow blogger irritatedly reported that he had......

--There were more bikes than cars on Market Street today for Bike To Work Day. Soon we will realize our dream where every car driver is assigned an individual biker to yell at them with a camera in hand. --Better to be biking to work than on MUNI -- as some of you reported to us, there was a massive meltdown in the tunnel this morning when the computer system crashed. Peace in our times! Bikers and car drivers, with the help of none other than the Honorable Gavin Newsom, have worked out a permanent solution to the Golden Gate Park Healthy Saturdays impasse. We know, we're totally amazed too -- next, the mayor's office will say they've worked it all out between the Shias and the Sunnis; Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff; and Pat Murphy and Chris Daly. We're nominating Gavin for a Nobel peace......

Univision: "You okay, Gavin?" Gavin: "Imo get to that question when I get through this door!" KGO: "Did your hair get bigger, or is the doorway getting smaller?" Gavin: "Why's everybody gotta hate? I killed that town hall meeting. I'm the best mayor in the world!" Pat Murphy: "Is it true you got rid of your entire blue tie collection to quell the wrath of SFist Rita?" Gavin: "SFist Rita wasn't even here. What's up with that? They sent that creampuff, SFist Elaine, instead." SFist Elaine: "Whatev, Gavin. You are so DTM!*" ...

As the political season starts to heat up, there's so many bloggers monitoring politicians' activities that we're thinking we need to start a new column, the _____Watch. There's so many people needing to be assessed these days! So we start off with local progressive Internet guerrillas GavinWatch. Welcome back! After their mysterious disappearance, they've changed all their old passwords, reuploaded all their old clips -- and they're ready to start watching Gavin Newsom again! (GavinWatch......

While reading the San Francisco Sentinel, we couldn't help but notice that Pat Murphy has made himself an extremely awesome personalized SFist t-shirt! (we don't have the rights to run the picture here, but it's the last picture on the page). LOVE! The San Francisco Sentinel IS First-Ist! Thanks for the support, Pat! Careful readers of our daily news summary Day Around The Bay may have noticed that the Golden Gate Restaurant Association has filed a lawsuit against Gavin Newsom and Tom Ammiano's proposed citywide health insurance plan. How can people who support the health care plan show their outrage? Well, never let it be said that the progressives in town don't come up with some entertaining protest ideas! So get your top hat and/or velvet bonnet, warm......

Happy Thanksgiving! --Speaking of Thanksgiving, thanks very much to Pat Murphy of the San Francisco Sentinel, who was nice enough to pass along William Wilson's picture of Gavin and squeeze of the moment Jennifer Siebel. We stole this column idea from Stephen Colbert -- but goodness, a lot of people are attacking Newsom these days, aren't they? Here's today's list! (The Guardian's keeping a list too.) Ross Mirkarimi!: Ross says that Gavin has been "hoisted by his own petard," in response to mayoral minder Peter Ragone's statements that Mirkarimi is only pushing the foot patrol issue so he (Ross) can run for mayor against Newsom. Ross said the Newsom......

When does the RCV count begin -- in the District 6 election! And as promised earlier, this week's episode is indeed titled: Everybody Hates The Wait. --Man, it sounds like we just missed the Dalys' almost-to-victory speeches at the DNA Lounge last night. Savannah Blackwell (yay! she's writing again!) has the good word. We're trying our best to get YouTube footage of Mrs. Chris Daly telling off "the motherf**kers at the Golden Gate Restaurant Association,"......

Only one more day until... the District 6 election! (And thank God for that.) This week's episode: Everybody Hates The Last Day! Daly supporter and video savant DiggaSlidwell forwards along his latest magnum opus, a comparison between the Daly HQ and the Black HQ last night. This is in response to Pat Murphy's Sentinel story that Gavin Newsom said the Black campaign was the most exciting he'd seen. One might argue in response it's not......

We're not calling this an "Everybody Hates Chris" post only because we're starting to think there are too many posts on the SFist front page that bear that title. We figure if we get called anti-Daly by the pro-Dalys, and pro-Daly by the antis, we're probably doing something right -- in the District 6 election! This week's episode: Everybody Hates Question Time -- and not just Proposition I either. See? As promised, if you anti-Dalys send us entertaining pictures or anecdotes, we're happy to run them -- and not just as a caption contest either! ("...and can you believe it? This one's over 21!")......

Ha ha ha ha -- they threw Chris Daly into a swimming pool! Commenter El Greco and photographer Drew Altizer earn a sweet spot in our heart for passing along their pictures of the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Center Pool Toss event on Tuesday. Happy BIRTHDAY, dear Gavin.... Happy birthday to you! Yesterday was the big 39 for the head executive officer of the city and county of San Francisco -- so what better way to celebrate than with a surprise party in City Hall, featuring singer Thelma Houston from Theater Zinzanni? Thank you, gentlemen, your time is up! This week's episode: Everybody Hates The Debate. It was pretty crowded in the Koret Auditorium for the League of Women Voters District 6 candidates' forum -- even though we were one short of the full eight (Davy Jones was a no-show). The seven candidates were crammed all together at two tables, and due to the tyranny of alphabetical order, Rob Black and Chris Daly were forced to......

Only five more weeks to go until the District 6 election! This week's episode: Everybody Hates An Endorsement. Looks like it's not just Lou Seal giving the flippers-up for District 6 candidate Rob Black! Rob just lined up the first big endorsement of the race, splashed on the front page of Monday's Examiner. Unfortunately, the Examiner doesn't seem to have made its endorsements accessible on its webpage, but we've thoughtfully saved it as a......

Wanna see more pictures like this? Well, starting next week, you'll get your chance! So do you remember our post from earlier this week about the dueling Daly/Black kickoff rallies? You know, we never got that string of silver anti-Daly beads from Pat Murphy.... Pat Murphy, as you guys probably know, edits the local political blog San Francisco Sentinel, the publication that showed us how Chris Daly rolls, and which provided us with some stiff competition for our prestigious Pubbies award (it was of course an honor to be considered among such an august group). 130851270_28c42bae4c.jpg As promised, we completely slept through the 5:14 a.m. bells and sirens commemorating the 100th anniversary of the big quake -- but some of you more diligent San Franciscans didn't, to our collective benefit. As promised, commenter Ed sent along his thoughts and pictures -- pass along your story, or a link to your blog, in the comments if you're so inclined. The perspicacious Pat Murphy and Luke Thomas went, shot, and uploaded, as did Flickr user honan, whose picture appears above. Local news stations have downloadable clips of the event today too. And as always, the Chron's got the crack reporters and photogs on scene too -- and it was pretty cool to wake up this morning and read the version (.jpg) of the April 18, 1906 front page that no one actually saw. That quake series has been fun to read. Here's to you, indominable spirit of San Francisco! Picture off flickr by honan....
