We suppose not everyone really subscribes to the theory that Osama Bin Laden hasn't been alive and kicking for years, but in case you did, his Al Qaeda puppet-masters have released a new audio tape in which Bin Laden attacks the Obama Administration for recent crackdowns on militants in the Swat Valley of northwest Pakistan. In the tape, released on Al Jazeera, the allegedly alive terrorist leader says, "Obama and his administration have sown new seeds to increase hatred and revenge on America. The number of these seeds is equal to the number of displaced people from Swat Valley." So the old man is still sucking air someplace, and apparently has misplaced his video camera, but anyway... carry on.
Remember the great Youtube outage of 2006? Horribly, it seems to have returned. Can you access the site? We can't. Multiple theories are popping up -- generally, hackers or incompetent cyber-Mohammedans are getting the blame -- or perhaps Google itself is at fault?
Not content to take over earth, Google just announced a partnership with NASA to start taking over outer space too. The partnership will allow Google to show all sorts of cool things like 3-D maps of the moon and Mars and will allow for real time tracking of the international space station and the space shuttle. You will also be able to watch weather patterns and other things from outer space so hopefully it'll make it easier for the President to see major Hurricanes that are about to hit major cities.
You have got to love the food bloggers -- they have a real sense of community, perhaps more so than any other blogging group we have come across. Today we are raving about this bunch who, spurred into action by local girl Pim, have gotten together to raise money for the vicitims of the Earthquake in India and Pakistan. You would not believe the selection of irresistable Bay Area foodie prizes that are on offer, in return for a donation to Unicef.
As we settled into our seats for the world premiere of documentary It's My Country Too, there was a generalized hubbub as a tall man wearing black and carrying a guitar case strode down the aisle. We heard his escort say, "It's so weird that no one's recognizing you!"
Turns out that man is Pakistani-American rock star Salman Ahmed, the narrator of the documentary It's My Country Too. Ahmed is the lead guitarist for the band Junoon, which has been called the U2 of Pakistan. We think this makes Ahmed Bono (scroll down to read Bono's letter to Ahmed), since the Edge doesn't seem to take too many positions on global politics.
It's My Country Too follows Ahmed as he travels America trying to see how 9/11 politics have affected the Pakistani-American community. After the jump: Muslim comedians, Muslim lawyers, and the founders of the website Muslims for Bush (who are Salman Ahmed's aunt, uncle, and cousin).

Today's newspaper was so chock full o' news that instead of writing a post for each one, we thought we'd just kind of blurb it. -Investigations continue in the Lodi terrorism case, spreading to a religious mosque in East Palo Alto. Five people are currently being held in custody for charges unrelated to terrorism (lots of charges of "lying to the FBI" and "violations of immigration laws") but one of the figures admitted to taking part in a "jihadist training camp in Pakistan for approximately six months" where he led the camp to victory over arch-rival Camp Mohawk. The other figures are under suspicion of terrorism mainly in that their Friendster connection network includes some pretty bad dudes.
So color us surprised when Adriel Hampton sent us a note asking if we wanted to join him in a chat with some South Asian media professionals in town on a junket with the State Department. Apparently they wanted to learn more about these "blog" things, and how they relate to journalism, both online and in print.
