This here is all kinds of gloriousness wrapped up in a neat little performance by Mavis Staples and Win Butler covering "The Weight" at Outside Lands 2011. Excellent stuff.

Outside Lands Reveals Massive Food Lineup for 2011
Our mother always taught us that if you're eating at a concert, you're doing it wrong. However, seeing as how San Francisco's LSD-tinged past has given way to more family-friendly foodie festivities these days, Outside Lands revealed an even larger lineup of food for 2011. Tragically hip? Maybe. Remarkably tasty? But of course. 4505 Meats (bacon-studded hot dogs!), Tacolicious (tacos!), Memphis Minnie's (southern style BBQ!), Kasa (kati rolls!), American Grilled Cheese (gooey cheese!), and more will also be available for your digesting needs. Go here for the complete list.
Outside Lands 2011 Lineup Announced: Muse, A Double Dose Of Phish And Arcade Fire To Headline
San Francisco's something-for-everyone summer music festival announced their artist lineup this morning and it's not too far off from some of January's early predictions. The schedule isn't out yet, but your 2011 Headliners are: Muse, Phish (who apparently need to specify that they will be noodling along for two whole sets), and Arcade Fire. So we've got a Glenn Beck favorite, a double-dose of self-indulgent jamming and a Grammy winner - that should pretty much cover all the bases. A full list of artists announced this morning, including some local bands and festival alumni after the jump.
Outside Lands Festival Returns to Three-Day Schedule, Will Hopefully Not Suck
The Outside Lands Music Festival announced the festival's dates for 2011 today. No big surprises on the weekend it's taking place: August 12th-14th, 2011, but maybe some slight surprise to see the festival will returning to the original long-weekend format after the 2010 edition slimmed down to just Saturday and Sunday. Eager Beaver 3-Day tickets go on sale this Friday, March 11th at Noon, but you'll be buying blind since there's no word on the lineup yet.
Outside Lands Night Shows Announced
For all those of you who don't want to spring for the full weekend We just figured out that these shows are only available to Outside Lands ticket holders... you need a password emailed to you after you've already bought a ticket but maybe you want to see one special band in a tiny venue? (Tokyo Police Club, perhaps? That's them pictured.) So this should come as excellent news: the off-site night shows have been announced for the weekend of Outside Lands in August, and the lineup includes Hercules and Love Affair doing a set at Mighty, Jimmy Cliff at Mezzanine, and a kickoff party of sorts at Nightlife at the Academy of Sciences on Thursday August 12th, with some sort of (DJ?) lineup to be announced. Tickets for these night shows, with prices starting at $12, go on sale at 10 a.m. on July 21, and you can find them here. See the full list after the jump.

Week Ahead: Bay Area Concerts
by Moses Namkung
Outside Lands has arrived. Remember last year? Substantial Muni fail, Radiohead's sound cutting out, Mr. Clothezoff, and other freshman-year festival growing pains... this year, we have a gaggle of headliners and acts that hit their prime a generation ago, but also an array of potentially promising Outside Lands night shows the entire week, including The Dodos (sold out, unfortunately), Holy Fuck and Os Mutantes. And that's on top of a week that's already front-loaded with Ted Leo at BOTH and Pete Yorn at the Fillmore on Monday and SubPop's Fruit Bats at Ameoba SF and the Independent on Tuesday.
We've been analyzing the schedule, trying to figure out which day of the festival we are the most (and least) excited for. For some reason though, while we do so, we're finding ourselves drifting off and daydreaming of the Flaming Lips, Girl Talk and Grizzly Bear...
Select list of shows around the city, after the jump...

SF Approves Three-Year Contract for White Man's Overbite
San Francisco just approved a contract that will permit future yacht rockers to entertain the masses at Golden Gate Park. That is to say, we've got three more years of the Outside Lands Festival. And it's a good thing for the city. According to KCBS, "[l]ast year, 130,000 people packed Golden Gate Park and the city made $815,000 dollars. The new contract guarantees the city a minimum of $950,000 dollars and allows Another Planet to stage a concert each summer for three years, with an additional two-year option following that." Old-time crooners like Pearl Jam, this indie rock band, the Beastie Boys, that indie rock band, the Dave Matthews Band, that group Fergie is in are some of the groups scheduled to perform for this year’s concert in the park.

Behind the Scenes at Muni During Outside Lands
We all had a great time piling on Muni last weekend, foaming and ranting about service to and from the park. But what was going on behind the scenes? We asked Muni how they strategized their service around Outside Lands. Here's what they had to say:
Outside Lands Hilarity Edited
Boo! After we posted about "Oliver Clothezoff, visiting from New York" at the Outside Lands festival, the Chronicle went and edited it to read, "A visitor from New York..." (Pft, you guys are no fun.) But Brittney Gilbert has the original if you want to check it out.
Outside Lands in Pictures
MattyMatt and y'all have got the commentary down. Here's some pictures we snapped this weekend at Outside Lands. If you've got more, feel free to add your flickr links below. Man, this town has some good looking people.
