According to SF Crime, the No. 1 source for all San Francisco criminality and deadly shenanigans, a drive-by took palce this past Wednesday. Seems to have slipped our mind, folks. Anyway: On Wednesday night a drive-by happened in the Silver Terrace neighborhood of San Francisco. Two men were injured just before 10 p.m., close to the intersection of Silver and Quesada avenues. "A 34-year-old man was shot once in his leg and an 18-year-old......

It was with absolutely zero shock that we read yesterday's article in the Examiner about a police sting aimed at drivers who cruise through the crosswalk when people are trying to cross the street at Taraval and 21st. The sting continues, as San Francisco police are conducting undercover pedestrian sting operations to cite drivers “blatantly violating the pedestrian right of way.” On Wednesday, officers at Taraval Street and 21st Avenue cited 45 drivers in......

While SFist cringed at the fatal dose of crime littering the Bay Area, it found solace in Hillary Clinton's San Francisco campaign headquarters opening, which featured loads of exposed mammary glands. In other news, SF Taxi Commission ruled that Satan's cab must keep its (in)famous medallion number, 666; and in an un-fashion-forward frenzy, San Francisco Fashion Week (chortle) bars bloggers from covering and getting smashed at their shows and parties, respectively. Also, they found a......

The BAGeL Radio 4th Birthday Party was a blast last Thursday, with great music, cupcakes and even a reunion with one of our childhood best friends who we hadn't seen since we were three and a half feet tall. We saw great sets by Birdmonster and Division Day (unfortunately we missed Two Seconds) and a good time was had by all. Despite the fact that we killed BAGeL Radio for about five full minutes......

How do you feel about holiday music? We thought that KOIT started playing their 24/7 holiday programming a little early this year, but we do love randomly hearing Jose Feliciano's "Feliz Navidad" in our car. There are two holiday albums out this year that we've been enjoying. If you're a fan of Sarah McLachlan, you should buy her holiday album Wintersong. The CD has several traditional holiday tunes, but we were pleasantly surprised by......

This week we give thanks for the amazing music coming out of the bay area, and the best venues in the nation to see it in. Listen up to the local music you can hear this week, and let's show our appreciation to these hardworking musicians by heading out to catch some shows. On Friday, Love X Nowhere are at Hemlock with Rondo Brothers. On Saturday night, one of our favorite local labels Birdman......

Special single-issue Blotter today -- there's a bad situation brewing in the Bay Point. On Wednesday afternoon, one of the owners of the store "Pop Ya Collar" was arrested for shooting a woman he suspected of shoplifting shoes. To be more specific, when the owner realized he'd been robbed by a group of five people, he grabbed his gun, ran outside, and fired shots into the window of the getaway car the group was driving......

Special all-SF shootings edition. And the murder count keeps going up -- the latest: one man killed Thursday night at 25th and Harrison. It's the 57th SF homicide of the year. Meanwhile, late Wednesday night, two tourists in the drive-through at a Burger King in the Bayview were shot too. They managed to drive themselves to a hospital and are recovering. It's been a bad month for crime, particularly in District 5, which has seen......

Y'uh-oh. With the season hanging by a thread, the War-rips were hoping to come out of their recent six-day break with some piss and vinegar, but instead, all they got was a little salty wine. On Wednesday, the War-terloos were worn down and overmatched by the Miami Humidity, losing at home 110-96. Last night, they sleepwalked through their game with the Phoenix Sunburn like it was a preseason scrimmage, losing at Phoenix 112-99 and dropping below .500 for the first time all season. At one point during the Suns game, the War-bricks were 3-18 from the three-point line; they could muster no offensive energy or discipline at all in the second half. It was one of their more lackluster performances of the season. ...

On Wednesday we relished reading Matier and Ross's column about a brouhaha involving the San Francisco Film Commission. Seems that while shooting days in The City are up, all is not well between the commissioners and the executive director, Stefanie Coyote -- whom loyal SFist readers will remember from her previous brouhaha with deposed Treasure Island impresario Tony Hall over the Rent production. So Stefanie gets in a fight with former deputy director Michael Billington......

Oh holy cow SFist loves scary movies. Last year, before we had this glorious soapbox to teeter on, we spent two glorious nights at SF IndieFest's first horror film festival Another Hole in the Head. In fact, when SFist was stil in fetal form, we remember telling the folks who would be our fellow editors how much we were looking forward to covering this year's festival -- and now it is upon us! (We......
