You know, if last fall wasn't exactly a great time for Bay Area sports, this spring, especially this weekend, has to be considered a great moment. We listened to Gary Radnich this morning and he was complaining about not having anything to complain about. ...

-Sharks score five unanswered goals to beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-1. It was their first victory in Edmonton since November 2003. -Mike Piazza tries the words "DH" on for size. -Lane Kiffin wants to hire Greg Knapp, as in the guy who was the OC in Atlanta and couldn't do anything with Michael Vick. Knapp, by the way, has a lot more experience than Kiffin does. Oh, btw, did we mention Kiffin was hated down......

And now, for the non-Warriors sports news of the day: -the leaking of Barry Bonds' amphetamines test might actually be a Catch-22 in that signing him will piss of the fans but not signing him will piss of the player's union. You don't want to make the player's union angry. -On the ESPN gabfests, they were already assuming the new Raiders coach would be James Lofton. So, naturally, the Chron is saying it just might......

-Ray Ratto thinks Carole Migden's proposal to keep the 49ers in San Fran is a load of hooey. -That new stadium, BTW, is polling at about 73% in favor down in Santa Clara. ...

-The Rai-duhs are going to take their time looking for a new coach which is code for "find somebody desperate enough to take the job." The Betting Fool wallows in the Raiders' misery. ...

Well, the Powers that Be decided to actually give us two NFL games on TV this morning at once. That's the good news. The bad news is one features the Raiders and the other the Detroit Lions. Which means that someone, somewhere, thinks everyone here is so tied into who gets the #1 pick next year that everyone in the Bay Area wants to watch both teams at the same time. ...

-We pick up today's "Morning After" column looking at the aftermath of the 49ers loss to the Cardinals on Sunday. The game knocked the 49ers out of the playoff hunt, probably as it should be as the game proved the Niners just aren't ready for playoff time yet (Niners Nation calls them the "Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda 49ers"). The loss has the team looking at next year even if there's still one game left in the season....

Chiefs 20 Raiders 9- We didn't watch this game, we didn't listen to this game, we didn't even know this was a game. It wasn't until we went to SFGate did we realize the Rai-duhs lost another game. Your totals: three interceptions, two fumbles, four sacks, and 307 total yards. The Chiefs even went for it on fourth-and-more-than-one-yard a couple of times just because they could. At this rate, the Raiders are one game away from having one of the Top 10 worst offenses since 1978. And which is worse- the O line or the QB?...
