-- Oh dead God: "Hearts in San Francisco" returns. Sweet cuddly baby Jesus, help us all. [Curbed SF]

YES!!!! Thank you, CUIP-SF, for passing along your YouTube clip of the guy singing his pro Ed Jew version of Madonna's Borderline at the public comment session of yesterday's Board of Supervisors meeting! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

with this one for his own blog -- the Chronicle Local News Blog gleefully reports that, at Sunday's Celebrity All-Star game at AT&T Park, former college baseball player Mayor Gavin Newsom:

--Check out Ross Mirkarimi's Gavin hair! Didn't someone else try this too?

First off. Alcoholism is a serious problem and we hope Gavin Newsom (.pdf) gets help and support.

So earlier today, we heard that Alex Tourk resigned as Gavin's campaign manager. It was a bit curious, a bit odd, but these things happen, although whenever somebody mentions that they are leaving for "personal reasons" the mind does tend to go to certain places. But no matter where your mind wandered, we have a feeling it didn't wander as far as what really happened because the Chron is reporting that Tourk quit mainly because Gavin had an affair with Tourk's wife, Ruby Rippey-Tourk. Rippey-Tourk (and woah, what a name) was Gavin's appointments secretary at the time.

We're pretty unhappy that a couple of yayhoos managed to ruin what looked like a very nice time yesterday in the Castro. So are a lot of people -- all the local blog servers were whirring away processing everyone's comments on the story. You guys did us proud with your thoughtful conversations about what the Castro and the city's next steps should be (and we appreciate how nice you guys were about that weird spam attack we got in the middle of the day, which not only left us random letter strings signed by people with names like "Abraham McMinnsberg," but duplicated a number of comments as well.)
