UPDATE! Since this post went up 45 minutes ago, Muni has removed the apology from its site. We expect a new statement to be issued any minute, declaring that Muni regrets nothing, would do it all over again, and you'll never get me alive, coppers. It's not as good as getting the trains running on time, but it's a start. Muni leaders have clearly been in over thier heads for the last few days,......

After a holiday break, we're back with more of our conversation with Nathaniel P Ford, Muni's Executive director. As a refresher, check out parts one, two, three, four, five, and six. Eve Batey: Something that we always wonder when we go fill out that form on the website, when we have a complaint or a comment or something, where does it go? What happens? So frequently, unless we really raise a stink and we......

Part three in our series detailing our conversation with Nathaniel P Ford, executive director of the MTA. See part one here, part two here. Eve Batey: While I’m asking what you’re going to do for money now, of course I also want to know – Nathaniel Ford: Increase patronage! EB: Well, yeah! NF: Increase our patronage, and part of that is, speeding the system up. And that was in the SPUR Report, you know,......

We continue our conversation with Muni's executive director, Nathaniel P. Ford. When we last left Mr. Ford, he was addressing Muni's plans to improve the rider experience. NF: There’s an effort that’s going on right now which is the Transit Effectiveness Project, and it started before I got here. But similarly, we were doing something similar in Atlanta, where we recognized over the years between bus stop locations and the number of bus stops,......

We recently sat down with Muni's executive director, Nathaniel P. Ford, to ask him some of the questions our readers and we have been dying to get the answers to. We spent enough time with him that we felt it made sense to publish our conversation in serial form, as opposed to one oppressively long interview. This is the first segment in the series. Nathaniel Ford: Thanks for coming in. Eve Batey: Oh, thank......

We're totally afraid that we're gonna jinx ourselves by spilling the beans like this, but we can't hold back any longer: this week, we're actually going to get to ask Muni's Executive Director Nathaniel P. Ford all the questions we've been (rhetorically) asking since his appointment in January of this year. That's right: Mr Ford has graciously agreed to be interviewed by SFist -- but something tells us we won't get to the question......

Thanks to the super-secret source who sent us the email address of the Executive Director of Muni, Nathaniel P. Ford! We emailed him to let him know about this column, and to request an interview. So far he hasn't written us back, but we hear he's really busy with work. Never fear, we're not giving up until we get an answer from him or his people. But when (not "if") we do interview him,......

Another week, another crazy Muni story. It's kind of amazing -- we're ordinarily a pretty fickle person, but our capacity for Muni discussion is infinite. Oh! When we were at Chris Daly's Art Shindig, he told us that he'd be meeting with newish Muni transportation director Nathaniel P. Ford this week. When we said "Can I come?" (when we're in public we use the first person singular, just like a regular girl) Daly just......

Oh nooooo! "Anonymous" (but we know better) commenters employed at The Wave rear their ugly heads again as they post the same comment twice in our continuing coverage of the concerns over the veracity (among other things) of Harmon Leon's final Infiltrator column. Note to Wave employees: per our comments policy "Good comments are rarely anonymous, because good commenters stand behind their opinions". Also, if you think that throwing stones from your glass house of......

So, Gavin's been pretty chatty about Muni lately, hasn't he? First up, he's alleging that some cable car operators are stealing fares, "because on three occasions he rode the cable cars and handed over his $5 cash fare but never received the required receipt." He's also brought up hiring more fare inspectors, which we hope is not the same thing as the once proposed plan to allow Muni drivers to make fare citations. The Mayor's......

Our posts on Muni are among our most popular with our commenters, right up there with pizza, coffee, and copy-edits. Every post we do on bus madness is greeted with a thousand stories, each better than the last. It saddens us to see these stories languish in the (relative) obscurity of our comments sections. The advent of a new (and very well paid) head of Muni seems like a great reason to for us......

The Examiner reports that new Muni transportation director Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. (we love that name -- doesn't he sound like the guy who should be on the $7 bill or something?) wil become San Francisco's highest paid official when he takes over the position next year. His base pay will be $298,000, but he has eligibility for up to "$337,000 when all compensation is taken into account." We got excited hearing that last......
