What's more, they unraveled a large banner reading "Impeach" in front of the day's speakers.

But here's the best part: master of ceremonies and Bush administration official, Peter G. Stamison, tries to snap back at said protestors, busting out his own gem: “I think we all as taxpayers -- those of us taxpayers, as opposed to you people back there -- are the ones that make this work."

Dude, what? Is the Republican Party (or Bush appointees, for that matter) so out of touch as to assume that Bay Area war protestors just kick it in Golden Gate Park all day long, drop acid, and play the lute while waiting to catch a glimpse of that up-and-coming songstress gal, Janis Joplin? While that sounds like groovy fun, most anti-war protestors are also shockingly responsible adults cum tax payers.

Fortunately, one of the protestors shot back with, “"Excuse me, I pay taxes!"

Also, do you that think they had swag bags available at the grand opening? Brimming with La Prairie samples and day-spa gift certificates? If so, why, we're just kicking ourselves for not attending.

Pelosi's PageGate Resolution Prohibited from Passing

Here we were, worried that this whole Congressman Mark "NAMBLA" Foley story wouldn't have any sort of Bay ...

SF News

As

Bay Area

Bill Clinton

children

Clinton

Congress

congressman

fun

House

House Ethics Committee

House Minority Leader

love

Nancy Pelosi

nancypelosi

News+Sports

pelosi

SF Politics

Republican

Republicans

sex

video

Jon

Foley, for those who haven't heard, was forced to resign yesterday when news of his flirtatious and extremely sick IM messages to a 16 year-old male page were made public. Yesterday, as the news filtered out and Foley was forced to resign, Congress took up the issue or at least tried to brush it underneath the rug as fast as they possibly could, especially in light of the fact high-ranking Republican officials knew about Foley's problem but did nothing about it. As several explanations were read out loud in congress, most along the lines of "oops, my bad," Nancy Pelosi rose in a lovely canary yellow suit and asked for a motion for the House Ethics Committee to investigate.

Needless to say, it didn't go over very well. Lots of booing and all sorts of other raucous behavior occurred after her proposal was read, as we all know Republicans stand squarely against investigating anyone for their sexual peccadilloes. The always excellent Crooks and Liars has a video of the whole thing and it's pretty fun to watch. We love Nancy's bug-eyed look and mischievous grin as she rises up to announce her measure-- she just knows she's about to stir something up and she's part gleeful about the whole thing and part scared about what she's about to unleash.

Anways, as you could well imagine, Nancy's propopsal went nowhere, but in response, House Majority Leader John "Not Boner" Boehner introduced a measure calling for the House Ethics Committee to investigate whether they should investigate the whole affair.

Since we can't let this whole thing go without bringing up the major ironies in all this, it must be said that Foley is not only one of the leading congressional voices of all sorts of "won't somebody think of the children?" and came out foursquare against Bill Clinton during that whole episode.

Republican sex scandals can be fun!

Our Little Nancy In Profile

With every major pundit picking the Dems to take the House this fall (better pitching), a lot of attention is heading our way as the media starts trying Nancy Pelosi on for size. That would explain the PelosiInDaHouze" who always posts on the Television Without Pity "Laguna Beach" boards.

Truth is, the article is pretty lame, your basic boiler plate article on Nancy that appears to be written by someone who took three or four articles already written about her and just rearranged the paragraphs. It's the kind of article that makes you root for the bloggers to put a stake through the heart of the MSM. Case in point is this line, describing Pelosi as "the Democrats' version of Tom DeLay, minus the ethical and legal problems of the former Republican House leader." Which is like saying that Nickelback is like the White Stripes minus the art-school pretense and indie-rock/purist aesthetic.

The article basically makes a big deal out of the fact she's seen as "very liberal" and "very partisan" throughout the political world, something which should cause eyes to roll from one end of the Mission to the other. After all, it's not like she's tried to end global warming by dancing about it.

Anyways, we find one thing of interest in the article, that if Nance were to win, she'd be third in line to the Presidency. So, if the Dems take over and do what our Board of Supes want them to do and impeach the President, then impeach Cheney because you can't impeach one without the other, well, hello President Pelosi.

Rock on.
